super, would you rustle up some bear claws for me, please?? Those and cinnamon rolls are my faves (warm, with a little butter melting on top!!), esp if the bear claws have the cinnamon filling (not apple).

Hope everyone has a good day!! YIKES!!! Three days till Christmas!!!???? Krikey!! :Santa1:

    good morning all

Didn't get chance to post yesterday and still got to go and read yesterdays postings

Very busy day yesterday at work, today a bit quieter, we are closing for a couple of hours to have a small party and secret santa (I work in a small mon-fri surgery) Tomorrow will be busy for the doctors but quiet for the nurses as many don't want tosee us busy getting their last bits of shopping so hoping to take some time owing in the afternoon then

    Chat later

    Morning all!

Haven't posted for a few days. Feeling kinda down. Long story but I truly hate my sister-in-law. Everytime I see her I end up crying so hard I need a Xanax.

Anyway, all my shopping is done but I still need to wrap a few presents. Christmas has become way too materialistic. Me, I'm happy with a nice card from someone telling me what I mean to them.

Baby sat my nieces today. I bought them a little kiddie drum with tambourines and moraccas, etc. You know what they do with the drumsticks? They hit each other over the head with them.

Anyone watch Dr. 90210 tonight? Wow, a 17 year old getting a nose job and breast implants--all paid for by her mother. All because she thinks her and her boyfriend will look cuter together. Ahh, how sweet. How sad that our society is so transfixed on the outer self instead of the inner. Another one wanted to get surgery on her pinkie toes because they were "a little chubby." Well, I have thick ankles, do you think they'll fix that?

Man, am I being cynical or what?

Renee, I'm amazed that you made it to Texas and only stopped twice for gas! I'm glad you made it safely and it sounds like things are turning around for you. If you go to work at a VA hospital, do they take federal taxes out? The hospital is govt. funded. Just curious.

Hope everyone has a great day!!!

    Good Morning to all,

Hi super, thanks for starting the thread this morning. So lovely to have a family that owns a bakery. Yum! I've been sitting here eating chocolate chip cookies with warm milk, so would you please put aside an eclair (sp?) and I'll take tea with that.

Stressed, enjoy the movies. Sounds like you won't have any time to watch more till after Christmas!

Dianah, no, of course your not picky. Just have discriminating taste is all.

Sue, just get cozy in the nest. Plenty of time to get crazy in the morning. Though, of course, we all know it is not your fault, is it?

Anna, I haven't had time to read the thread from yesterday either. Hope you enjoy your shopping this afternoon and manage to get it all done, so you are not out there at 9 pm on Christmas eve trying to find the perfect gift!

Beth, are these neices the children of the bothersome sister-in-law you mention? If so, would explain the gift of musical instruments. Sorry you are having problems with her. So bad when it is a family member. Not like you can get away from them. And doesn't help when you have others taking sides.
Yes, I agree about the materialisticness (I doubt that is a word, but ya know what I mean, right?) of this season. If everyone thinks it feels better to give than to receive, they have to have folks to give to, I guess, huh?

Well, I quit my job on Tuesday, and had reservations about doing it with no other job lined up. But walking out of their afterwards felt soo good that I knew it was the right thing to do. And dh was so behind my decision that it made up for him driving me crazy at other times! I had an interview for another position Monday afternoon and am waiting for 'the phone call'.

This burn is healing nicely but still hurts so dang much. I didn't expect that. And now my feet and ankles are both quite edematous. Does anybody know if this is to be expected? It is a deep 2nd degree burn, covering only ~ 3 to 4 % of my body. I've never worked with burns, so don't have a clue. Also find myself exhausted. Guess I'll go back and see doc this week. Have to go before my health insurance finishes the end of this month.

Hope we all have a great Thursday!

Yep, those are the nieces whose mother is a total b&^ch. Seriously, she will either leave them with my brother for 12 hours while she shops (he doesn't mind but he gets stressed taking care of TWO babies the same age) or she'll take them shopping for 12 hours. I think it's ridiculous for kids to be in a mall for that long. They're stuck in a stroller. Another thing, she doesn't come home from work until 5:30 or 6:30p so she's not spending much quality time with them---they're asleep by 8. All she does is shop, shop, shop. When she got home today from work I was on the floor playing with them and she tried to pick them up but they wouldn't go to her. They came to me. I think it's sad. Then she complained about everything and anything. What is making me really, really upset is that my b-day is Friday and the plan was that they were coming. I was going to open presents and eat an ice cream cake (not by myself of course). But she suddenly decided last night that she wanted to do Christmas with her mom on Friday. So guess when I'm opening my b-day presents? You guessed it, on Christmas. So much for my special day. I could go on and on about her but I'll save some more for tomorrow.

Did you just up and leave your job or did you give a notice? I suspect you gave a notice. Hope you get that job. Since it's the holidays it may be next week before you hear anything. What happened that you quit your other job? Is there a thread I could refer to. How did you get burnt? Questions, questions.

I actually feel better after ranting about my SIL. Sorry, I don't want to bring anyone down. I'm off to read yesterdays thread. Knowing my luck it's probably ten pages long!

I want to give a BIG thanks to everyone who sent me a card. I think it's really nice to send cards to relative strangers. It shows that even though we have never met face to face that we still wish everyone a Merry Christmas and happy New Year. What a way to spread the cheer.

BUT where the heck was the gift cards and money????? A nice crisp Benjamin (sp) would have worked. You don't send a card without a present!!! Just joking. :chuckle

what does your brother feel about sil's actions? and, just guessing, but does she perhaps resent the way the children prefer their auntie, and is trying to get back at you by spending friday elsewhere? but the drums will get back at her.

did you just up and leave your job or did you give a notice? i suspect you gave a notice. hope you get that job. since it's the holidays it may be next week before you hear anything. what happened that you quit your other job? is there a thread i could refer to. how did you get burnt? questions, questions.

i was still on orientation at the job i quit, so no need to give notice. it was just the wrong fit right from the start. bad hours, bad days, bad people - you get the drift.

as far as the burn - was stooping down in front of gas fireplace. doggie decided to run to 'mom' and jump up on my shoulders - so i fell back against fireplace glass. burned my right scapula, all the way down my arm to mid-forearm.

i actually feel better after ranting about my sil. sorry, i don't want to bring anyone down. i'm off to read yesterdays thread. knowing my luck it's probably ten pages long!

glad you are feeling better. feel free to vent anytime!
have you waded through yesterday's thread yet? :chuckle

Good morning. I'll take one of each for breakfast.

Weetzie, if you feel good about quitting the job, then I wish you well. Maybe you need to drink more fluids to help with the 3rd spacing? Sorry about the pain.

I'm off to work. I'm precepting a new nurse starting today. What a dreadful time of year to have to start a new job, she's supposed to follow my schedule and I'm working Christmas, I hope they don't make her do that. She's an LPN to RN so should be pretty easy to orient, I hope.
