Three year old with a black eye

  1. My three year old came home from day care with a swollen black eye. The day care owner said she fell and hit the side of a tabel. What makes me worry is that she had a bruise about three weeks ago and they said she fell then. When I ask her she just says she got a boo boo when she fell. I know kids get a lot od boo boos, but this one just doesn't look rite. I want to get her in another day care any way, but theer is a waitig list. I'm probably just a worry wart, I guess.

sounds like you need to speak to the director of the daycare
frequent accidents may be caused by improper supervision
you are not being a worry wart, just a concerned mother

As a former ER nurse I would say look into it please. For your peace of mind and possibly your daughter's safety.

If she's falling frequently, maybe she has an ear infection. Worth checking.

I don't mean to flame, but why not do a search on this?

I could give you the answer, but I've found that when I look something up I remember it so much better.

Happy hunting...if you can't find it after a while, I'll help you out.

(PS-Stop saying "just a student"...we're all really students when it comes down to it)

You're not a worry wart, you're a mother. Wave the banner high and kick some but. Find out what's going on ask the question no body wants to ask," Why is my baby having so many accidents?'' and patiently wait for the answer.

I have a 3 year old son and he came home from daycare with a bad bite mark that was bruised and bright red where the teeth were and a good scratch under that eye. The day care provider told me that my son got into it with another little boy 2 times that day . She told me this little boy had always been a problem there and while we were speaking the mother of the boy came to pick up her son. The provider told her that she could no longer watch him while the little boy was kicking this woman. Then the mother told me that it isn't her sons fault that I did not teach my son to fight. He is 3 after all so I guess I should be teaching him self-defense already . Anyways while he was there he would have a bruise her a scratch there and then after a few unannounced visits I found she just wasn't keeping a good eye on the kids. So it is definately worth checking out. Better safe than sorry.

Thank you all for thinking this was important enough for you to answer. I think that they are not watching the kids close enough at the day care. That is why I want to go to another one. For now, I will have to try to leave her with my sister or a freind when one of them can keep her.
