  1. I just want to thank you Brian for allowing us to keep the forum up during the past several months even when it got pretty heated. I respectfully understand your decision to close this forum.

I just wanted to say thank you and thank you to everyone who put up with my views. I've learned so much from all of you.

See you on the other Forums

I've been posting on and off since its conception. It met my needs and the needs of many, it seems.

I'm not sorry to see this particular forum closed. It's time has come. The war is over; 9/11/01 is almost a 2 year old history. With regards to the original intent of this forum, it has served its purpose.

And done so in a very nice way, overall.

So. . . my gratitude for having a forum here at "" to vent and reason out the many hard issues that faced us after 9/11.

But I am sorry to see that "" doesn't have an active debate forum for current events which the "war/terrorism" forum seemed to unofficially provide. Another topic for another time, I guess.

Well said Ted. I think it has served it's purpose too and thankful that we had it during those trying times.

Active/Debate Forum sounds like a great idea.

I think so, too. Effective debating is an art. It needs polishing like any other craft. I've learned a lot through reading and participating in the debates here.

Of course, at the same time important issues are being discussed. This is good too!

I guess "nursing activism" and the "off topic" can serve as forums for future debates.

I don't want to get involved in another bulletin board focused on debates because. . . well. . . my wife would probably kill me. It's bad enough that I spend as much time here that I do now. :imbar

Agree wholeheartedly ! A "Current Events" thread would be nice and/or an Active/Debate thread. Have learned so much on the W/T thread...other views besides our own are always healthy.

I also think that OT is a great place to put your non-nursing debate thread ideas. It seems that as a nation we are healing that this particular forum can be put to rest. It's been a source of lots of learning for me .

I have not contributed as such to this forum - have read it from time to time - l felt I didnt want to get into the heated arguements -

however l do think that the idea of a current events thread would be a good idea - it may also mean that people from other countries may feel confident about contributing.

Whilst we do get a lot of US and world news we do have news here that may or may not be of interrest to other countries -

ie - we have just had a Governor General - ie the queens representative resign due to association with child abuse (he was not involved - general concesus was he didnt do enough about it when he was arch bishop and then the general feeling was he was not worthy to be our figure head in Australia - representing the Queen - OK long story - but this is a thread that l feel could have been discussed - however if we put it in the Australian section it would probably not have been noticed and therefore not been discussed.

We too have had our recent tragedies in Australia with Bali And this has directly affected a number on our board

    - but as l said l wasnt confident to discuss topics in War and terrism - - I sound a wimp but l didnt like the title - it intimidated me- I am just stating how l felt - this certainly is not directed at anyone who may have contributed in any way

So if the thread is to be closed l think the suggestion of a current event would be good - in the other off topic forum - where people discuss general and often fun things l am not happy to bring up areas that could be seen as negativity

Anyway l am sorry this is again a long post just a few thoughts -

I agree Sandra - maybe a current events thread might be the way to go. Leave the Off Topic area for general fun and games and chit chat while we have another area where we can discuss not only American news but international issues. Keeping political and topical issues separate from "gossip" and fun things helps to separate out interpersonal disagreements. It makes it easier to disagree with someone on one forum and STILL have a fun interaction on another.

I'm sorry to see this forum go, because during the height of the recent war, this is mainly where I came to get
information and others POV on the whole thing.....
    Thanks Brian!

It's been a blast & yes, the country and the BB are re-evaluating, and restructuring.

I heard them say on "Face the Nation" last Sunday that "the government has probably OVER-REACTED to 9-11."

That the Billions of $ spent, formation of the "Homeland Security
Office" and even the War With Iraq were ALL ""over-reactions.""

So, as this forum was provided for discussion after 9-11, maybe it was unneccessary also. Like the above, a good idea at the time. Thanks for the courtesy of providing it , Brian.

Goodbye to War & Terrorism Topics--

Lord knows, there are hundreds of sites to debate and discuss the war, the homeland security, the Democrats & Republicans, GWB, the prisoners in Cuba & Florida, ad infinitum.............
