They're back...

  1. A Robin's nest just came back to my front porch. The male and female moved it b/c they must have been upset that WE actually wanted to use our front door and didn't want anyone close to their eggs. One Robin almost attacked me last week.

Now it's back where it was and we'll be listening for little chicks/birds.

Anyone else have a lot of birds around their house? I know Robin's aren't that unusual, we have BlueJays, Cardinals... too.

    Parrots? really.

We don't have a lot of trees, just a few small ones.

We have a family of opossums (sp?) that have moved in under the house recently. Man, do they make a lot of noise. We thought the dog had killed one in the wee hours of the morning last week. He woke us up barking nonstop, and when we investigated we found a bloodied, dead opossum laying there on his back. Restrained the dog, and suddenly the animal jumped up and ran off. He was just playing dead!

Oh no opposums! I hear they can be mean if you try to back them in a corner, or maybe it's the racoons that get mean, not sure. Our dog has also gotten into scraps with them, they are sly

clm18 we only have a few small trees not large enough to hold a nest so I think that is why they chose the area above the front porch.

I would like to see a grass parrot maybe you could insert a pic sometime.

We have Swallows that try to build right above the front door
also. We let them for a couple of years but I got tired of stepping
over the bird poop to get out the front door!! This year we ended
up wraping a fake snake around the light fixture and it worked.
They have built elsewhere. I like having them around because they eat their weight in mosquitos. If I could do that the world would have no more pesky mosquitos!!

I've always wondered what swallows eat ! I'll take some of those mosquito eaters

We have sparrows, wonder if they're from the same species of birds.

My parents have an unusual bird, can't remember the name, I'll post it later. It's all white and it's about the size of that lorikeet.

We have a row of cedar trees around our house...home to 20+ Stellar Jays...beautiful but noisey.

We also have families of racoon, squirrel, opossum...beau coup rabbits and the odd fox now & then...btw, we live INSIDE city limits (by about 50 feet).
