The Very Worst Credit Card Companies ...avoid !! Avoid !! Avoid !!

  1. Last year , I responded to a low rate offer by FLEET.

iF YOU GET AN OFFER TO OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH FLEET, PASS IT UP !!

THE PEOPLE ARE DRIVING ME NUTS !! I have never seen a company behave this way. They have me on automatic dial EVERY HOUR !!

NO, I'm not behind. Just the opposite ! My credit is excellent, I pay ahead. They've sent me checks and other offers I have not used. Now, they are calling me every hour.....and this is not an exaggeration...... they call every hour and are offering me all kinds of sales pitches.

I've told them for a month to stop calling me...that I am a nurse, I work nights, they are waking me up....etc., etc., etc., all to deaf ears. They actually laugh and cop an attitude with me.

I asked several times to speak to the supervisors, and the supervisors also actually laughed when I told them the situation and when I told them to remove my name from their phone list.

Their reply, "LEGALLY, WE HAVE SIX TO EIGHT WEEKS THAT WE CAN CONTINUE TO CALL YOU AFTER WE HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED THAT YOU WANT YOUR NAME REMOVED FROM OUR CALL LIST."

And the calls continue. They begin at 7:30 a.m. and continue until 8:30 p.m.

It is really maddening. I will have this card paid off and cancelled by Oct. 31, in the meantime it is awful and I wish to warn you.

Conversely, I have had a long history with Discover and Citibank and no problems.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

some phone companies will put a block against certain numbers.
Also you could try calling the atty. general for your state (harrassment).

I thought that if you request to be on a company's "do not call" list, that legally they could no longer call you? Sounds like some legal action is in order.

Or you could change your number.

Thanks for the warning, I too hate to be called and the state of PA now has a web site where you can register your name and phone number and no one is allowed to call except political offices. I always tell the caller to take my name off the calling list.It really has reduced the amount of calls we get. By the way, when my hubby answers the phone he always tells them that they are luck I didn't answer! Oh well, I just don't like my privacy invaded.

Yes badbird I am on that list. I only hope it works. Calls where there is a live body and you can tell them not to call back are not so bad. It is the demon dialers that ring and there is nobody there that drive me crazy. Also the recorded messages are a problem.

If you say hello and no-one answers immediately, hang-up. That way automatic calls do not make it to the next available operator, but the computer thinks the call has been answered. Anyone important will always call you back. We avoid a lot of calls with this technique. If it's a computer talking, I hang up anyway.

In IN we also have that law and it is wonderul. We still get some calls once in a while, I ask them their name, supervisors name etc. and tell them they can be fined 500 bucks for calling me and the money goes to the "victim". That really slows them down. Once, when a computer called me, I barked like a dog where I was supposed to give the answers. Wonder what they thought about that call? Suggestion for prn nurse: get an answering machine and screen your calls. When you work nights, turn the ringers off on your phones. Don't let these idiots drive you nuts!!!!

Hey thanks for the site, I'm going to check it out, I have several telemarketers call. I do have the privacy manager on my phone line, but it also makes it hard to get important calls from my daughters doctor.

I never answer a phone call that shows out-of-area. I will unplug my phone & turn off my cell phone if I am sick or desperately need my sleep. (I'll tell my bf first so he doesn't worry.)

Bummer Pappy. I have days like that on here too. You just gotta remember you're not here to please someone else, but to share thoughts and ideas, no matter how unpopular or unliked they may be.....

I'll be sending all my happy post thoughts to you this weekend, as I'll be working a hellish 24 hour weekend and probably won't have time to post.

I'll be leaving it all in your hands Pappy.... make me proud

    Heather
