the pause'

  1. what pause you ask?

sorry, micro is off again on another soapbox again.....
menopause=scary subject, and still taboo to talk about too freely....so here goes micro getting micro into trouble yet again.........
    soapboxxin' away........

    menopause!!!!!!

    that still taboo word.....
but something micro is too familiar with at too early of an age'
so to a whole new understanding of it.............

    first and foremost.....
micro must acknowledge GAIL SHEEHY.....author of Silent Passage as well as so many other good works......

and any guys reading these these posts.....
    you are not discluded......
men are people too.....and you possess hormones like us women do, just a slightly diff' proportion..........
and we all go through hormonal changes......
but back to my original premise.......
    menopause.......
#1 bad name, but at this point in my life what do i care.....

what i do care about is that we women still go through it and still in this advanced day and age, there is still so much propoganda and incorrect information out there...........

#1 you may be affected by peri, meno or post menopause when y ou least expect it.......
#2 it is not the end to your sexuality as a woman (actually it is and can be just the beginning of it-----oops do i disclose too much-----k' read the book)
#3 men do go through something very similar.....but it is not discussed much......(chk out Gail Sheehy's works.......)
#4 menopause is far more than just the cessation of ...............
but it also a time of change, that you need to be aware of and acknowledge...........
#5 menopause has physical, mental, hormonal, sexual, societal components........be aware and be not afraid.....it is okay.....
    #6 .....on to #7

    ---------------------
    #7...........cause i like the number 7.........
for someone much, much, much, much, much, much, wiser than micro.......

one of micro's favorite nonfiction writers...........

    GAIL SHEEHY......

for rather you are male or female.......
rather you are reading it because of yourself.....
and never forget self care is great.....
or because of someone you care for deeply......

she write the truth and is way there'

just cause I haven't read her latest about Hillary' doesn't make her a bad author........

    Gail Sheehy' rocks........

dispel the myths of this life.....
there is science to back all of this up.....

just be and be well all,
    micro

    micro,
I would love to read the book you quote...
I have experinced the 'pause and have welcomed all the changes especially the eccentric behavior I now have which befuddles and shocks most under the age of 50. Luckily, my peri/pre 'pause was mild compared to some I have heard...there is indeed fierce propaganda regarding the natural changes in everyone of us...male or female...too bad we do more often than not listen to these ill spent words...not a taboo subject for me...

I wish my wife would hurry up and do the 'pause.

We have narrowed her migraines down to being menopausal migraines, 3 days before and 3 days into.

    hopefully not much longer.

Micro, you KNOW nothing is sacred or taboo on this BB!!!
I got the peri 'pause, but it ain't gonna get me! I'm just ridin' it out . . . found some women't vitamins @ health food store: a multivitamin with SUMA, Donf Quai, Damiana, Buchu Leaves . . . the relatively mild hot flashes I'd started having @ age 47 disappeared after I started taking the vitamins. And I'm mighty ready for the monthly thing to STOP ANYTIME!!! Briefly wondered if HRT would be a good thing, I'm sure it's a godsend for some with SERIOUS s/sx. As long as I'm not psychotic/volatile/aggressive, I'll not do the HRT. I could actually live with the hot flashes; as "they" say, this too shall pass.
BTW, a high school teacher from long ago counseled, " Always ask who "they" is . . ." Good advice!!
    Peace. --- D

    Hi Micro,

I am currently 7 days post op hysterectomy. I wasn't planning on one just planned on having cysts out but the Dr. couldn't stop the bleeding, anyway I am feeling good, had my first hot flash today which was weird as I am always cold. Anyway, excuse my babble, If you are interested I found a great website called Hystersisters.com give it a try, a lot of very honest women talking about everything. Hope this helps.

I've been through it and am still on HRT and will not quit them anytime soon....
I liked the book "Silent Passages" but it has been a while since I read it.....
Micro, we talk about menopause at work (especially the sx)-- both sexes of nurses can talk openly about it---I think sometimes the guys think us post menopausal nurses are wierd, but they put up with us anyway.....
Don't be scared of menopause, my Hubby appreciates the fact that we can do what we want whenever .....
the sweating was a new experience for me as I was always cold before-- going through th change meant being suddenly drenched in sweat and suddenly trying to strip everything off...... I really hated fogging up my glasses the most.......

    'POWER SURGES'

I dont know where l at with me, still pre, definately not post ---
    I wish

Wrote a post a couple of weeks ago on another thread asking about associated joint pain and asking if anyone else experiences this a lot - as l said in the post - I think) dosnt help being over weight

I refer to myself as a Rubinesque proportioned woman.

Anyway It only goes to prove that there is always something more to experince in life - like it or not.

BY the way G'day to you to.

    Cheers

    Tookie

PS had to edit this too many spelling mistakes the first time -- tired at the end og the week - its 5.30pm Friday night here
