The MOTHER of all tantrums!!!!!

  1. My sweet little angel, the apple of everyone's eye, the one whose pinky everyone is wrapped around.........just tried to bean me with a bag of oranges!!!!!

    She's thrown tantrums before but they have never been bad and have never lasted more than a few minutes, when she realized we would not give in like my parents do. This time it just escalated and she grabbed a bag of oranges and started to swing it at me!

    The little brat is having a cooling off period in her room, first time she's ever been punished like that.....normally we just let her cry it out and it's over, but this time she was banished. She was screaming and crying so hard I was afraid she would urp. That end of the house is quiet now so she probably fell asleep, but I'm sitting here mouth agape.........I swear that child was possessed........

    Can I call her my demon child again?!?!?

    Oh, Strong Willed, I feel for ya. My oldest (girl) is 13 1/2 and since the day of her 13th birthday, I've been scratching my head and thinking: What happened to my sweet, respectful, helpful little girl? Geez.

    Well, at least my 10 y.o. son seems human now, but I'm sure 13 will wipe him out too. Ah, but they're healthy and mine, and that's what counts.

    Well, the good thing is that she had the meltdown at home. I HATE public meltdowns. And, boy, could I tell some stories! The good part is that it calms down around Kindergarten. Have fun and hug her cuz they grow up fast! :uhoh21:

    After she woke up from her meltdown nap she was very subdued and clingy. I am hoping she's in a much better mood tomorrow. Wednesday and Thursday she goes to daycare, so she can play with her friends. Hopefully that will get her back on track.

    I never saw this with my older two, but by the time I got them they were past meltdown age.

    Before you know it, she'll be all grown up and you'll be unable to remember incidents such as this. lol Other things replace the tantrums! lol

    Reading your post has made me try an recall anything my two ever did. I'm drawing blanks! lol See, middle age has it's blessings! lol

    Tazzi, so sorry you are having this trouble with her, it is very upsetting to the whole house. keep your chin up, she'll stop throwing tantrums and oranges and move on to something else.

    Time out in the bathroom seemed to work for my boys better than the bedroom {hard wood toliet seat.}
    Day they argued that one was always sent to upstairs BR, why couldn't they be assigned there, knew it was working to calm them. Also left 3 1/2 yo wailing in grocery isle when NO to food not accepted (peeking around corner).
    Time out in big winged chair often worked to calm too for everyday issues: per Peds Doc, one minute for yr of age.

    Both sons (18 & 21) recalled these times recently and thanked us for setting boundaries and consequences to actions early. Had to dig that wing chair out of storage too for "old times sake" and oldest son's room.
