The Mall

  1. I went to the mall today to shop for my daughters school clothes. I can't believe the crazy people there, it was worse than the christmas eve rush, cranky Grandmas with whining kids, teenagers looking at clothes that the l-900 type girls wear. I guess I am just getting old but some of those young girls wear very slutty clothes. Another reason for school uniforms in public schools in my opinion. Oh well, just venting.

Nahhhhh we are not getting older....the clothes are getting sluttier! but you know... if I was a teenager...and had a belly as flat as a board. I would be wearing hip huggers and belly shirts too! All of course in moderation.... there is a way to wear today's fashions without looking like a hooker!

But I agree... I wish my kids school had uniforms.... The whole drama about what am I going to wear today would just go away!

My kids are still young 6 & 8 but they do know what they like to wear and do not want to wear! and it's a real pain!

Plus... I least I wouldn't feel like my kids need to keep out with little Suzy... who wears all Gap and Limited 2 clothes... and Little Johnny who has all the skateboard and sufter clothes!

NOt that I want my kids to be trendy.. and not that I'm all about keeping up with the JOnes... but some of these kids parents make it very difficult!

    OK.. I'm done now!

Not me! If I had that kind of body, I would look like a ****! I'd show it off every chance I got!

....ok back to reality. I went to Catholic school growing up and my first baby ruined any chance of a belly shirt....forever!

although my daughter is 15 and have a choice on her clothing, i still monitor what she wears, to school or not. as long as i buy them and she lives with me, there will be consevative dressing. i am the same way about hair styles too, at her age. i hear the words, "mom you aren't cool", but that's alright too. i must add, she doesn't ask for things that are "revealing" but she would like some of the hair style that are "too grown up" as i see it.

My little girl, age 5, tells me that when she grows up she wants to wear shirts that show off her belly & her shoulders. I've suggested that we go head & pierce her belly button, too! She doesn't want that, but she does want to look like Britney Spears, just like 18 years ago, the girls wanted to look like Madonna.

I am so grateful that her school uses uniforms! Hallelujah! What a job it can be, keeping little children looking like CHILDREN!

Please I go through that all the time with my little girl... and SHE DOES want a belly button ring... she tells me that when she is a teenager,,,, she is getting her hair blonde, and a belly ring!

I catch in her room sometimes.. with the karoake machine and her shirt folded in above her belly! She also is dying for a thong! she wants it to show when she wears her jeans!

The other day she tried mine on! lol

Oh I need lot of guidance with this child of mine!

My house, my rules. My sons learned very early on that I buy what they look good in, if it's not for Nordstroms, too bad. I now put my little one in iniform shorts and polo shirts for school, long pants when it gets cold. I don't care what other kids wear or don't wear.

The older one went to military school 4-8th grades. No problem as to what to wear. M-Th khaki uniform, Fri class A uniform, after school PE uniform, worked out well, now, he tells his little brother, just wear what Mom says, otherwise, she'll send you to St. Cathreine's like she did to me" Works well.

I hope that I'm teaching them to be individuals, not follow what every body else is doing. Other words, if you think I'm spending 100.00 on sneakers, WHEN COWS FLY!!

Kristi my love......while I respect your personal take on Britney Spears, I must say that I find her quite a young lady. She has wonderful southern manners, shows the utmost respect to her parents, loves her family to death, still has the same friends she had in high school today, carries herself well when not performing, sings like a goddess (I personally am one of her biggest fans, and I even bought her most recent CD, and play it everyday in my home...just for me).

I've read her website, I've seen her on Opray Winfrey a couple times with her mother, and as a mother of girls older than her, I would be proud to have Britney as a daughter. She is NOT what the media portrays her to be as I have spent time getting to know a lot about her "behind the camera". When you're in the spotlight, you behave the way the fans expect you too behave.

It's not easy for a young person to grow up as a celebrity and keep their wits about them 100% of the time. There's a lot of pressure on young celebrities, and I pray that Britney makes it through adulthood without cracking up or committing suicide from all the public pressure she is under 24/7....many of America's FORMER "young celebrities" grew up, and are either dead or strung out on drugs and alcohol today because they couldn't handle the constant pressure placed on them to "conform" to the standards of "the media and their fans". Just think about performers like Whitney Houston, Maria Carey, John Denver, Elvis Presley, even Michael Jackson is not himself anymore...and sooooo many others who folded under the pressure to be PERFECT before the public eye all the time...with no time to really just be themselves.

Don't just view Britney based on the style of clothes she wears FOR HER SHOWS...she does NOT dress provocative when she isn't performing. She is NOT stuck-up, selfish, uncaring, inconsiderate, disrespectful, ungrateful, or a druggy caught on tape getting high all the time, so for this reason I give her TEN thumbs up! :kiss

I am really glad that we live in a school uniform district for when we have kids. Although that does not take care of all of it. You still have to set limits.

We don't have uniforms here but there IS a long list of not allowed clothing.
No hats, sunglasses, tops that show the belly, no underwear showing, pants must fit, no gang wear (I've never even SEEN a gang member so what IS gang wear?) and the list goes on.
I don't shop in stores but my wife says its ALWAYS a madhouse.
