this is the original real tv type thing!!! :d i watch it every year, and always thought it would be awesome to find 3 other people to do it. train for a year, and go try to do this thing would be unbeleivable..........although most look at it as nuts!!!
check it out if you don't know what it is! they usually pick a different place to have it! it started in austrailia at first! this year it is in new zealand!

Where do we "Check it out"?

hey 4x, i think it is on usa network. it start's next sunday at either 8 or 9pm est?
they don't yell or vote people offf some lame island. of course i only go by what i far as that is concerned.

somebody actually showed interest? it's a ????? 150-280 mile course. they do mountain climbing, mountain biking, rafting, kayaking, hiking, etc etc. there are 4 people to a team, and if one cannot make it the whole team is out! clearly you need a team mentality.
if you never watched it before, let me tell you something. the first three years they did it, one of the teams consisted of a team of navy seals. the seals never made it better than 3rd place.

i don't know why? it just amazes me, and would love to try it. of course? something else i always wanted to do, was the hike down into the bottom of the grand canyon and back up! not as trecherous, but still a two day trip minimally!

I LOVE to watch this! Those people are amazing, and it must be an awesome experience! I get to live vicariously through them..If we nurses had a team, wonder what we would call ourselves...Any ideas???

    hmmmmmmmm good thought?

my fist thought was team rn, but then realized that was discriminatory. highly unlikely everybody would be anyways.

    now you have me thinking!

    team nurse? nawwwww?

    team healthcare?

team........ oh heck who knows? lol! :chuckle

one thing i do like about this thing. when they advertise it, the way they do it: it's not about money, it's not about endorsments, it's not about big contracts, it's about who you are. it's a self acheivment thing! :d (something like that)

Yes the show fascinates me also. Have been watching it for several years but I don't think I have seen them all.

    well ormar,

if you have seen it once, it isn't much different than all of them. to some it may seem boring, but i really like it! :d there are always quite a few that don't make it. there are a few that get injured (i.e. sprained ankle or knee) and the rest of the team helps them make it. they have too? otherwise the entire team is out! some get the flu or sick and dehydrated and push themselves to the limit, some make it some don't!

this thing reminds me of the one t-shirt i have that says:

"pain is nothing, compared to what it feels like to quit"

If I remember correctly, during the very first episode the three lead teams had a little bit of luck. The were moving so fast they got ahead of a bad weather front that moved in and caught the teams that were just a little slower. That is why so few finished. It reminded me of life in general, the universe controls when the door opens but the individual decides to be ready to go through.

How about Team Bedpan, Team butt wipe, Team Large Bore, Team Trauma, Team Save Your Life, Team Make You Well, Team Defib, Team This May Sting A Little, Team Call Light, Team I've Seen It Before. Gary

yes oramar you were right about the weather front!!!

gary..... i like team trauma! however, i can't help but to think that might actually be a bad luck name for something like this! '

Now now now....Not EVERYONE hails under the auspices of trauma, though an eco challenge might provide some....How about Team Determination....Funny, with all the writing I have done, I cannot think of "THE" name...Oh well...I'll have to keep thinking about it........

Once we devise a team name, we SHOULD come up with our colors and a slogan......
