The Dugout

  1. Yes folks, it's baseball time again. Thought I'd start a thread for us to chat about our favorite teams.

Can you guess which one mine is???

    Holy Cow!

Good game last night (Cubs game...is there really any other?!?!) Glad I have TiVo. 15 innings but the Men in Blue pulled it out. Thought Andruw Jones' solo blast off Zambrano in the 2nd was going to be the nail in the coffin, but Hollandsworth came up w/ the huge clutch solo blast of his own in the bottom of the 9th no less to keep us in the game. Then w/ bases loaded in the 15th Goodwin popped a sacrifice fly to right field to score Lee from 3rd. Atlanta came up empty in the bottom half and that was that.

So, w/ 160+ games left in the season, I will subject all who read this thread to crazed Cubs chatter unless someone else joins in on the baseball talk!

Only 2 days left 'til the Cubs home opener against the Pirates!!!

Gotta love baseball. Gotta love the Cubs!

Hey, hey, holy mackeral - another excited Cubs fan here, too!

Can you believe I only have tickets for ONE game this year? They sold out like hotcakes! We also managed to get tickets last October when the Cubs beat the Braves - I think it was game 2 or 3 of that playoff series. Mark Prior pitched, we won, and the electricity in Wrigleyville was just crackling!

Dang, you lucky dog you! That must have been a blast. I think anyone who bought tickets early in the season last year for the late season games got a very nice surprise!

Can't wait for Prior to get healthy and get back in the rotation.

They sure did get a surprise because it was tense as the end of the season!!! The tickets we got for that October game didn't go on sale until September, though, when they shocked everyone by making it to the playoffs. Those tickets sold out in under 45 minutes, but luckily my BF has a cable modem and it really helped because it "resets" so fast when the ticket site tells you to keep waiting. Or maybe just dumb luck? YES It was a BLAST! People were hugging and screaming and just having a great time.

We are huge Prior fans in my house and can't wait until his heel is better, but I hope they don't push him too early because if it gets inflammed again at the end of the season we're in trouble!!!

OK, I'm about to go on the DirectTV website to order the MLB package. So many games to watch, so little time!

Oy vey is all I can muster after yesterday's Cubs home opener! I sure hope this was a fluke for Maddux or I may be forced to change my siggy line!!!

Sox home opener is Wednesday, right? (feigning interest...

Anyone else catch Barry Bonds' historic home run, tying Willie Mays' record? What a blast!!! Watching those people in kayaks waiting for a HR ball was too cool. I didn't realize Willie Mays is Barry Bonds' godfather. Cool!

How is your favorite team doing so far?

I listened to the game on WGN radio and they said that it was so cold and windy that it was a bad day for pitching, that their hands were stiff and that the wind was not in their favor. Let's hope that's all it was.

Yeah, but the cold didn't seem to bother the Pirates at all, did it, lol! Here's hoping tomorrow's game will be better!

I'm an Orioles and Red Sox fan, myself. Going to an O's game next weekend. They have some good players this year (it's been a while....a loooong while since I've been excited about the O's chances).
