The closer it gets........NCLEX-PN Jitters

  1. Hello my friends. I'm taking the dreaded NCLEX/PN next Tues. at 9:00 AM. The closer it gets, the more wound up I get. I know I shouldn't but I can't help it. I just want to do well and get it over with so bad!! It's making me crazy guys, and this is coming from someone who's already had a nervous breakdown!!:chuckle I know I gotta relax, but how? Everything's riding on this one test. You've alll been there, so you know what I mean. Sorry to bug you with this, but I just want the test done yesterday!! Take care guys, and thanks for listening. Warrrior Woman.:kiss

Just take a deep breath. Everything is going to be just fine. You have come waaaay too far to let this get you down. They aren't going to ask you anything on the test that you don't know the answer for. After all you passed the tests as you went through your classes and clinicals. This is basically just a review. Just take a drive in your new car and don't let your nerves get the best of you. Or maybe you could spend some time in the Joke/funny stories section of this bb and have a couple of belly laughs. Good luck to you. And don't you dare get to partying after you pass and forget to post the good news and let us in on the celebration.

Every day I get a little more tense. I really feel it in my chest and shoulders. I just can't seem to relax at all until I know everything is done and all right. Having trouble getting my breath tonight. Think I'll lie down. Help me out guys. I'm stressed to the max. Warrior Woman.

Yup, bellylaughs -- that's the ticket!
Stand in your backyard (or in your room, if you're a little too shy) and read -- no, SHOUT!! as you read from any of your NCLEX resources. Then collapse in giggles (betcha this helps you remember what you've studied!!) IF you want to study, which I kinda don't recommend but I would do it if it were me, JUST to review, mind you!! ptnurse is right, you've learned it all, been thru the classes, clinicals, etc.
What's the worst that could happen?
What's the best that could happen?
Picture each scenario, and what action you will take with each. There. You're prepared.
My mom's friend Bob (yes it really was another Bob), when he heard me whining about something he felt was trivial (not that I think the NCLEX is, truly!! Really really!!), would smirk and sarcastically remark, "Ohhh, you'll DIE!!" Kinda put things in perspective.
Watch something funny every day: I Love Lucy, Three Stooges, whatever you like.
Most important, pray (I know you do). Do something good for someone else every day, from the heart.
    Best, -- D

you have the knowledge, the skills and the insight
the test is just that, a test ......
your whole lifes worth is not tied up in a test , just remember that...
I was a basketcase before my RN exam but once I got in there I just read each question carefully and imagined it as a real patient scenario (sounds cheesey but it works)
imagine your friends here rooting you on as we will be!
your personal experiences and all your knowledge WILL come together
you are gonna pass, and thats that!
    nuff said
do a little happy dance when you get those results girl!
all your hard work is starting to pay off
this is just the beginning of it all!
    :kiss

Warrior Woman, I know you';ll do just fine!!

I passed the NCLEX-PN lasty year (2001) the 1st try 20 years after I had forst taken it <1981> i had let my license lapse, and Michigan required to take baods again.

You KNOW the material! read the questions carefully, take your time, and breathe!!

Get a good night's sleep, DO NOT CRAM! Don't even crack a book (well, perhaps a trashy novel is OK) eat a light meal before you go in (protein good, carbs bad ..well for me anyway: carbs make me sleepy!)and remember to go to the bathroom before you begin :imbar

I'll hold good thoughts for you, and keep you in my prayers for calmness, peace adn knowledge brought to rememberance!

    Big HUGS!

I don't know if it's the stress of waiting to take my boards or what, but I've been barely able to function the last couple of days. Right now the pressure on my chest feels like an anvil just sitting there. Feels like a constricting band. I've tried to distract myself various diffferent ways. Please pray fofr me to get thru these next few days. All I want to do is ie down. Have no energy. Stress is really getting to me.:stone Please help me. Please. Warrior Woman.

fiy416, This post was 7 years old. I see you're new, the date that the post is made is in the upper left hand corner.

Dianah, does this bring back memories? Is the advice you gave the way you deal with stress? What do the neighbors think of that technique?

I pictured you as just a tad bit more sedate...........
