Learning how to do this stuff is half the fun, Dave! Let me know how I can be of help.

By the way, I am a HUGE Gordon Lightfoot fan! I'd pay good $$$$$ (almost up to 25 cents) to hear you sing, "That's What You Get for Loving Me"! LOL!

    Cheers!

Thanks, Ted. As soon as I learn how to upload the videos, I'll put one on.

However, I think I'll change the title to "That's What You Get for Listening to Me"!

No, Farawyn- you do not want to hear me sing!
I know you like to think so, but you are NOT the boss of me, Davey Do!

I love that Belinda really slapped you. I have a Girl Crush on her.

Speaking of dogs, a word of thanks goes out to toomuchbaloney for the advice given to me on how to train a part husky/part yellow lab. Coby Jack runs well leashed to my bicycle, and even when untethered, comes when called, the majority of the time.

I recently received permission from a farmer to mountain bicycle through the newly harvested corn and soybean fields in the bottoms. The other day, I bicycled to a point where two creeks meet at the edge of a field. As I was going to park the bike and take a walk through the woods, while removing the leash from the bicycle, Coby Jack got away. He did not come when called, but went bounding through the woods. I got back on my bicycle and stated back home. By the time I got to the hard road, Coby Jack came bounding through the field. He still wouldn't come to me to be leashed to the bicycle, so I continued back home and he followed me.

The next day, I wanted to again bicycle to the point where the creeks meet, and Coby Jack showed that he wanted to come along. I had fashioned an easier way to remove the leash from the bicycle, to prevent a reoccurrence of the previous day's events, leashed him to the bike, and we went on our way.

Coby Jack and I were walking through the woods by one of the creeks when I noticed a big ol cottonwood which had fallen, creating a natural bridge across the creek. I remember reading a Jack London story where he had mentioned that dogs were not good climbers. But I thought, "I'm an old dude and feel rather safe in crossing on that big ol fallen cottonwood. I believe Coby Jack can do it too".

We climbed out onto the fallen tree to a point where the two big branches came together. My plan was to climb up on the main trunk, and then help Coby Jack. I climbed to the main trunk and was just about to help Coby Jack when he made the decision to make the climb without assistance. Jack London was right- dogs are not good climbers. Coby Jack lost his footing and fell about 10 or 12 feet to a sandbar below.

He seemed to be unhurt, and when I returned to the bank, even came when I called him.

I leashed Coby Jack to my bike, crossed the field we were in, crossed the hard road, and went into another field. In that field, I saw about a dozen or so wild turkeys. Coby Jack saw them too, for he took off like a shot toward them, proving his unhurt status and pulling the bicycle and me with all the husky power within him!
