Wednesday afternoon, I wake up after my usual sleep (noc shift) and find that I have been biten in my sleep. I have four bumps at the crown of my head, four bumps at the top of my head, above my forehead, one bump on my forehead and one over my right eye. all moving in a fairly straight line. I'm thinking, man I must taste REAL good.
Oh well, off to work I go Thursday noc. Those bites are really starting to get to me. They seemed to have enlarged and they hurt and itch like crazy. My right eye is starting to close from the weight of the bite on my eyebrow. I'm starting to run a fever. I'm starting to become very malaise............not a fun noc at work.
So, off work at 0730 and I make an appointment with my PCP. I'm thinking, "It must be something poisonous." They are now itching and hurting emmensely. The doctor comes in, takes one good look at my row of bites and makes the following diagnosis (((any guesses from you nurses out there?))):
I have shingles.
