Thanksgiving is just around the corner. . .

  1. ...and what are your plans?

I'm working the night before, so DH is making dinner. I usually host for extended family/friends, but this year it is just us. Have to admit, I'm looking forward to it--no heavy duty house cleaning .

We're having a traditional dinner; turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie and a boatload of pickles (not a tradition, DH just went a little crazy at Costco).

We'll just hang around napping (me) and watching football (DH) and have a nice quiet family day.

Going to a cousin's house, as we've done for year, for the traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

This year will very different for us. We (DH, DS, DD, and me) usually travel about 4 hours to DH's middle sister's house. All of DH's siblings and their kids and grandkids (DH's parents are no longer with us) make the trek. All of the females get together in the kitchen and prepare a wonderful feast, each in charge of their "special dish". It is a wonderful time spent with a wonderful family.

This year, however, we will not be able to go since we will be moving DD to her new home and first job 8 hours away. DS wasn't going to be able to make it as he just started his first job in NYC a couple of months ago. Sooooooooo.........we will be on the road. I guess we will have to find a restaurant in her new town. Kinda different.....kinda sad.......but at least I won't have to cook. But no leftovers either.

We're going to my brother's house; they're furnishing the turkey, and everyone else is bringing something. I'm on the pie detail! There'll be around 20 of us.

Some family and friends are coming over. I'll be cooking, as usual. Dinner will be turkey, cranberry sauce, French bread stuffing, green bean casserole, fennel gratin, and pumpkin pie with fresh whipped cream.

Luckily, we're splitting the grocery bill. I think I'd go broke otherwise.

We're doing Thanksgiving on Friday this year. Thursday didn't fit into db and sil schedules. So, I'll be watching football all day. And Friday am I leave for 4 days so I don't think I'll see my nieces. That's all I care about regarding holidays: seeing my nieces all dressed up.

My wife's family always has a get together, and this year we will be celebrating her grandfathers 90th birthday.
