Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2006

  1. good morning!

i'm going for a record this week to see how many gm threads i can start.

my brother, sil, and nieces will be arriving at 1045 and we are eating at 1100. have to work the food around the naps so that's why we are eating early. hope my brother remembers to bring the beer. he bought guinness beer and i had a sip the other night and it is the best beer i've ever tasted. and that's saying alot because i'm not a beer drinker.

my mom will hit the floor when we pour beer into the 100 year old brought from germany with ancestors wine glasses that no one but her is allowed to wash.

last year my sil broke a 100 year old bowl that my ancestors brought over from germany. we glued it back together. mom isn't that petty that she would get upset over that - it was an accident.

i know i said it last night but....i will not hit my brother, i will not hit my brother, i will not hit my brother. i will not.

i hope everyone has a wonderful thanksgiving and remember what it's all about: giving thanks for what you have, and spending time with your family (love 'em or hate 'em, they're family). make some good memories. bring out the old photos of your naked kids in the bathtub. embarrass them in front of their so.

and to those who have to work: be thankful you're not a patient. you could be worse places than work. but then this is coming from a gal that has the day off. hey, i have to work all the dec. holidays.

    have a great one!

Happy Thanksgiving Bethin, and to all my Allnurses' friends!

Will be boiling a potful of hard-boiled eggs later this morning for deviled eggs which I will be taking to my DS's in-law's house this afternoon. I am going to try that trick shown on Food Network, where they put the filling inside a Ziplock bag, cut a slit in one of the bottom corners to make the process easier and faster.

Here's a Thanksgiving card for everyone. Have a SAFE and BLESSED Thanksgiving! - View Your eCard!

Yep... just rolled outta bed here. Don't know why, but I'm exhausted.. could have slept another hour or two.

Keeping it simple today. DD is coming at one, so I have plenty of time. I'll do some light cleaning here in a bit when I send dh out to pick up some milk and yams he forgot to get the other day.

I'll throw in the turkey at nine am.. ... should be plenty done by noon as it's just a breast.

Trying to wake up.. haven't even put the coffee on yet.. NEED COFFEE!

Bethin.. enjoy having your brother, and when you feel like hitting him, think of my dd today. I know she'd give up her TG meal to have her brother here to punch !!!

I'll be in and out... and I do wish everyone a truly wonderful day !

good morning all & happy thanksgiving!!!

preparation for the thanksgiving feast is well underway here at my sister-in-law's. we did some of the cooking yesterday after we arrived, but most of it will occur today,
we plan on pigging out around 3:00. after that, i'm sure i will be so stuffed that i will need a nap so that i'll have enough energy for turkey sandwiches later.

i hope each of you have a great day surrounded by friends/family. for those who have to work, be thankful you have a job and take time to enjoy yourselves afterwards with those you love.

feast and reflect upon all the many blessings that have been bestowed upon you this past year.

    Mornin' y'all!

    Can you say, "FOOTBALL!"

CseMgr1....Thanks for the nice card. Did you see the Thanksgiving Chin Song? :chuckle

Yes, I'm studying until time to get ready to go to my DH's sister's house. Should be fun saying half of his family aren't talking to each other. We're only going to let the kiddos see the family, and d/t the fact that we put our Thanksgiving dinner off until Saturday. :chuckle

Everyone have a great day today.

This is my first time to post on a GM thread!!!

I had to work for a few hours last night. I am fighting off bronchitis, and i am having such a hard time breathing with all the coughing/mucous/wheezing....(asthma). So I have not slept well, and that's why I'm even up at this crazy hour!!! LOL

My kids are with my ex up north for TG, so I am debating whether or not to go to my cousin's for dinner. I'll have to see how I feel I guess.

I miss my children terribly (they're 5 and 4). It's my first TG without them ever. Also my first TG without my brother here. He's HIV pos and moved to NYC recently after a bad illness. (he's relatively healthy now though, thank God).

I hope you all have a happy thanksgiving. It's gonna be a rough day for me. But me and my kids will be cooking our own little feast tomorrow!!

Welcome to the GM thread, rehab nurse! Sorry you're feeling yucky, I hope it passes soon.

    Quote from siri

Ummmmmm, Siri.... I'm glad you're not cooking....'cause your turkey just deflated.

J/K....I'm glad you're able to visit with your much loved family. Give them, the little one(s) at least, a hug from all of us!

(Let's see, how many hugs is that for each of your family members?) hahahahahahahaha

    Have a great Turkey Day!
