  1. Good morning!

I thought I'd start the thread early so maybe Grace could chime in.

No classes tomorrow. I have to go home so I can work the weekend and then no classes on Monday!

I'm loving my apt living. I was worried I'd be depressed but everything seems to be going ok. I haven't really met many people (besides the current so called boyfriend). I would love to go downtown on a Fri night and go to the nightclubs but since I have to work at 0630 on Sat it wouldn't be safe. I can't be out all night and then take care of pts for 12 hrs.

My apt is very quiet. The only time I hear my neighbors is if they take a shower and that's not annoying. Living close to the hospitals means alot of helicopters flying over but that doesn't bother me. Actually, all the traffic noise puts me to sleep and I sleep like a baby.

Hope everyone has a great Friday!

Di, in yesterday's thread you asked about Mexico. I'm still going to San Diego but I'm also taking a little side trip to Mexico. I still haven't decided if I'm going to rent a car and drive over or take a tour. I've been thinking I'll rent a car. Go all out and really freak the parents out! I've looked at maps and everything seems simple. If I don't rent a car I'm going to be shelling alot out in bus fare, cab fare, etc.

If I can drive in downtown Chicago at rush hour, I can drive anywhere, right?

Bethin, good morning, you sound very content! Last I "heard" you, you were trying to sleep with noisy neighbors overhead -

take care - I am off to bed I hope, can't seem to ever shake the nite owl in me but I try...

Are you thinking of Jessica (I think) or someone that started the thread about her drunk upstairs neighbor? This is my first week in my apt.

    Good night!

I thought it was you, staying at a friend's, and neighbors making a ton of noise... it was NY eve I think. Anyway - glad things are going well and sorry if I mixed you up with someone else!

That's ok Zoe. Now that I think of it, Cheer was having problems with her neighbors too.

Congratulations on being smoke free! A nurse I work with quit smoking then with the money she would have spent on cigarrettes she went out and bought a convertible.

I wish my dad would quit. 2 packs a day and has the smoker's cough to prove it. He's been smoking since he was 16 and he's 55 now. He was never allowed to smoke in the house or around us kids but we all knew what he was doing when in the dead of winter he'd slip his shoes on and go out to the garage. Hated the smell.

    Today's Wacky Website:

    www.rathergood.com/first_drink

I haven't tested it yet, but the description says

    "T.G.I.F. Time-Waster

    First Drink of the Day

An animated manic-monkey-musical celebration of the positive effect of brewskies on hangovers. But don't be fooled by those cute little beers with wings --- if you overindulge tonight, that monkey could be you."

Mexico, eh? Depends on why you want to go. If your only goal is to freak out your parents, yeah, rent a car and drive there and be sure and tell them. If you want to see Tijuana, though, I'm sure there are buses that will take you from San Diego right into the touristy areas (with all the stuff for sale), without your having to worry about finding your own way (no cab fare, etc). Plus, if you're not driving, you might be able to sample some of the tequila. Check it out. Also check if you'll need a passport. Used to be, you didn't, but I don't know about the border crossing requirements these days.

    Hi Zoe!

OK, gotta get to bed, morning comes early tomorrow (kid needs to be at school at 7:15 for choir . . .). G'night! D

    Good Friday everyone

I can't sleep - have a terrible headache and just took some codeine with phenergan cough syrup.

There was a news flash about an bombing at the American Embassy in Greece . . sketchy details - one rocket and no injuries.

Beth - Tijuana is NOT a fun place to go . . .

beth, i agree with steph, skip mexico, and just enjoy san diego. this coming from someone who moved north from living in san diego county for 8 yrs, only 2+ yrs ago. i don't trust them, the police are crooked, don't drive there...if you get in an accident you could easily end up dead or in prison without recourse, it is a foreign country, their medical care is not like ours and they are politically corrupt.

I will take everyone's advice into consideration although you must know that all the advice in the world may or may not change my mind. Sorry, it's the way I am. I always have to find out first hand. Yes, I've heard horror stories. But I really want to freak my parents out. Heehee. :spin: We have a wacky relationship. I tell them something I did that they would not approve of - like flying 14 hrs to Korea on a day's notice and they just shake their heads, look at each other and say "if I didn't know better, I'd swear she was the mailman's daughter." Oh, and when I told them I would fly to Iraq (by way of Jordan or Israel) with my best friend whose husband was stationed there, they did the same head shake. We didn't go, only because her husband told us if he saw us, he'd report us to his superiors. Ok, a war zone was a bad idea.

Did I mention I'd like to go to Darfar and Sierra Leone when done with nursing school????? :spin:

Steph, hope your head feels better. I take phenergan when I get a migraine, helps with the nausea (obviously) and lets me sleep it off.

    Take care!

Did you decide on the colors for your son's bedroom?

    Good morning all!
I'm all messed up with my sleep. Yesterday I felt so cold and couldn't get warm (ya know that feeling???) so I fell asleep under the comforters from about 2pm till 11p...then tossed and turned; got up, back to sleep, etc. etc. Guess feeling terribly depressed doesn't help.

Bethin--did you get any sleep at all??

Suzy, no sleep yet. And I hate to sleep in on Fridays because I have to get up early on Sat mornings. But I need some sleep because I have a long drive home.
