Terror Attacks

  1. I READ ONE OF YOUR THREADS TALKING ABOUT HOSPITALS BEING WARNED ABOUT POSSIBLE ATTACKS...DOES ANOTHER ATTACK SCARE YOU GUYS?
IN SOME WAYS IT DOES ME. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. MY NIECE LEFT LAST WEEK FOR OVERSEAS AND I KNEW THEN (WITH HER LEAVING) THAT SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT. WHAT IS YOUR OPINION. JUST CURIOUS.

The FBI said today that another catastrophic attack is in the works. U.S. forces were attacked in Afghanistan last night, and Bin Laden released another tape of himself. I think something may happen soon, but I'm not confident that they have the resources to pull off a large-scale attack like 9/11. But the fact that I'm so close to D.C. does scare me a bit. I mainly try not to think about it, b/c then my anxiety levels rise, which is a problem for me.

To quote a great statesman (something the the world is lacking today), "the only fear we have is fear itself".

Sad to say but I think this is the new way of war, terrorism in our country...
I mean when you stop and think about it how much does terrorism acts cost... a gallon of gas in a vehicle, a box cutter etc etc...
It just seems like to have 'protection/security' it's coming down to big brother watching over everything? That's scary thought in itself!
You do have to wonder how much of what we hear is really the truth...
How much is propaganda and how much is truth?
How much of it is the government keeping us scared to death so we do not question what it's doing...
I say, question everything and believe only half of what hear!
And Yes, Of course it is a frightening time when terrorist acts HAVE in fact happened in our country...
Anybody else have a veiw regarding possibilities of propaganda?

Hello there nursegoodguy! How the heck are ya these days?

In answer to your question regarding "propaganda"...it's nothing new to a military person or a military family. We know it's been in use by our government since the beginning of time, so it should never come as a surprise to anyone when things are going on of this nature. Our "enemies" know it's a political agenda thing to use propaganda in certain cases just as they do the same with us. It's a sad thing to let your enemy (enemies) know every card in your hand, don't you think?

Americans don't need to know everything that our government does to protect us because in our being privy to everything in that respect also makes our enemies privy to the same as "they" live in this country right beside us...and not all of them are "foreigners", but Americans themselves who would sell their own mother's soul for money. We can't..nor should we ever...overlook this all important truth about the human races capability to "turn on" their own "best freind"...Judas turned on Jesus...so who are we to not be turned on by someone we THINK we know????

Just food for thought as to why propaganda IS used!

I don't think there's a lot of propaganda. The true test of that, though, is to read the same news stories on other countries' websites. If you know a foreign language, you can really get a good measure of how the same things are being reported (and seen) elsewhere. Also, if they're seeing a lot of "chatter" similar to before 9/11, it is only prudent to be on alert (although I do hate my privacy being gone now). Also, there's just too many incidents of terrorism elsewhere on the globe for it to be real propaganda. Not on the same scope as 9/11, but Russia came close.

Yes, I read that hospitals may be the target of the next attack, sometime between December and April. Anticipated locations are San Francisco, Chicago, Houston and/or Washington, DC. Expected methods are anthrax or explosives. They state these are "unconfirmed" suspicions. (How do they confirm them, hmmm?)

I've become very fatalistic these days. I figure, if it's gonna happen, I hope it just takes me out with the first blow. Truly, I don't fear dying myself...don't want pain and suffering, mind you...but I really fear for my children. I just don't want them to be terror-struck literally or figuratively. I don't want to be terrified either.

I pray a lot more too. It helps.
