Teaching what requirements do you need??

  1. I also posted this in nursing management thread but thought I'd throw it in here also.

I am currently and LPN I am working on my ADN in business.I need to get my RN, I want to get my BSN and Do I need my MSN in management also to be a administrator or teacher??

What requirements do I need to teach BSN, or MSN in business or education ?

I am confused and don't know where or what I need to do next. My class will go til June but I have to know where to go from there. I need to start looking for schools and online classes I can take different things like that.

I have problems with my back and I want to have the options if my back makes it where I can't do patient care I want to still be in the nursing field that I love.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need a BSN to teach the ADN programs, and with some programs you may be able to teach a few rotations or clinicals in a BSN program. Most BSN programs do want at least an MSN or even a PhD. Depends on what exactly that you would be teaching.

In Tennessee you have to have a MSN in order to teach ASN or BSN classes. ASN and BSN nurses can teach LPN classes. Good Luck!

Angie - at least in central IL where I live, you must have at least an MSN to teach nursing - any level. You might ask around your area to see what the requirements are.

I also sent a message to the board of nursing asking about the requirements so I will know. I am going to do some other investigating.
