Tattoos

  1. Ok, y'all, I'm considering getting my first tattoo. I have a few piercings, but no tats yet.

So who all has tats, where are they, what are they, and can you post pics?

I don't have an actual photo of my tattoos but here's the link to the artwork I had put on my left outer calf. It's rather big, about 5 inches long at its longest point and about 4 inches across at the widest. The only difference between my tattoo and the picture is that I had the wings done in blues and purples instead of the earth tones because it wouldn't show up on flesh too good. (If you see her "Blue Fairy," those are the colors I used.) I love the earth tones but it just doesn't work on skin.

I also have a single color (black) fairy on my upper right thigh that is in relief (the shadows are colored, not the fairy)...my kids still have a hard time "seeing" the fairy. I'll have to try to get some pics.

Still thinking about a third (and final) tattoo!

Yep, this old lady has a tatt. I got it this summer on vacation. A Celtic knot on top of my left foot. I went to The Ink Doctor's on Amelia Island. (Fl.) The Ink Doctor has done Ozzy so I figured he was good enought for me. Actually, a guy named Cisco did mine but the Ink Doctor did come in and talk to me while he was doing it.

I'm not good enough at this computer thing to think about posting anything.

I have a tattoo on my ankle. Just remember that with the tattoo and piercings some patients freak so make sure you can cover them up. That is why I chose the ankle... with scrubs no one can see it. I took three designs and made them into one. It is unique and mine! I put a LOT of thought into it.

Got three, all to mark important moments in my life (mostly realizations about myself). The first is something I dreamed about 3 times, in increasing detail...then found in a book on persian tapestries (scary, but true). It's damask roses and a nightingale, on my left rear shoulder. Very fine line, soft colors. Gonna get it touched up a bit, I think, as it's so delicate.

Second was a design from an ancient Celtic high cross: two cats lying side by side, one with a bird at its feet, one with a mouse. It signifies the old parable of the lion and the lamb...traditional enemies who have learned to live together in peace. Important lesson for me, learning to forgive.

Third is a simple inkbrush outline of a kitten playing with a butterfly, inside left ankle. Taken from a quilt my great-aunt left me when she died. Reminds me of her, although she wasn't a pet person.

Like Badbird, I have nature's tattoos-the stretch marks from having had both of my kids, and the surgical scars. Actually, I'm not into tattoos for men or women, but hey-that is a personal thing. My stepdaughter has a mural-type thing about 3 inches wide across her lower back, just below the waist. It is a repeating gothic-looking pattern, of some sort.
One of the women here at work got a little (about 1 1/2-2 in) dragonfly just above her right ankle a couple of weeks ago. It looks pretty good.

I have a four inch rose on my deltoid. Had to have it touched up in one year since I dark skinned as it faded. Faded again alreay in two years. Bummer was I could not give blood or be on the bone marrow donor registry for one year. I really missed giving blood.

My middle daughter has a large tiger lily tattoo on her back, which she designed herself.

You can buy books with designs or check them out at your local parlors. Here's a link you might find helpful as they also carry design books for tattoo artists: http://www.spaulding-rogers.com

drowning student what part of cali are you in? I am trying to find rehab or LTC in Cali and cannot find any in traveling companies.
Do you know anyone doing traveling in california for LTC?

Sorry, I don't know about any travel or LTC jobs...

I am in the boonies by Edward's Air Force Base where the school motto is "just because we are in the boonies does not mean we are tumbleweed tech. Your classes are considered transferable to the university's, based on their curriculum and you will be expected to do their level of work".

So the education is good, but the jobs will most likely be elsewhere... maybe you should start another thread? Others may be more helpful to you.

My SIL has a really cute Eeyore tattoo on her shoulder blade. I would never have one myself, but it is really cute. Like another poster stated, just a personal choice.
