Surgery tomorrow

  1. Hi Friends,

I am a little nervous, I am having surgery tomorrow to remove
large ovarian cysts, my GYN is taking the ovary and tube. I never had any surgery of this type before and don't know what the recovery will be like. Any GYN nurses out there that can tell me what to expect? Thanks.

Good luck - have a quick and comfortable recovery.

Then come back and tell us all about it - I'm going to have to have it done relatively soon.

    Love

Good thoughts and wishes, as well as prayers for a quick recovery! I had an ovarian cyst taken out with part of an ovary 25 years ago and I recuped fairly quickly...I remember having some major shoulder pains postop...which I was told is normal after belly/lap surgery.

I always try to eat too fast after surgery...so my advice: take the food thing slow!

You'll feel better after the cyst is gone...I did. (I also was surprised to conceive a child within months of the surgery, so the cyst must have been messing with my system)

Take care and plan on taking life easy awhile!!!

Thanks your all your good thoughts, I did have my surgery but when the doctor opened me up my cyst ruptured and I ended up with a hysterectomy, the Dr. said she could not stop the bleeding I lost about 1100cc's the Dr. also said I had huge endometrosis well that is all gone now, I still have one ovary so I shouldn't need hormone replacement therapy. I awoke feeling a little sore but other wise ok. I had a morphine PCA which made me itchy so they gave me IV Bendaryl and also Toradol for pain, I asked for the PCA to be gone the next day and I was switched to percocet. I feel ok just a little tired the pain is controlled well with percocet and motrin. I spent 3 days in the hospital and was sent home yesterday, I can shower and just take it easy. As far as the pain is concerned I am just a little sore if I cough or laugh but nothing that motrin can't handle. I am walking around ok just waiting to heal. I am glad the surgery is over, my hubby was scared because it took 2 1/2 hours longer than expected but he is ok too.
