  1. I haven't started a GM thread in months, so I thought I'd get one going early (it's still only quarter to 8 here on the West Coast).

My dh and I attended an offbeat kind of event today called the Shrewsbury Renaissance Faire. It's held out in the middle of nowhere, on about 15 acres of dusty and extremely uneven pastureland, but it was a blast!! Many of the attendees come dressed in Elizabethan-era costumes and say things like "Good morrow, m'lady" and "forsooth", and you're supposed to try to speak the same way to all you meet. There were knights and ladies fair, jousting contests, swordfights, singing and dancing, even fencing lessons (wow, is THAT a workout!!) and blacksmithing, not to mention a lot of cool stuff to look at........and buy.

We ate and drank, we reveled, we walked probably six or eight miles (good thing we've both lost weight recently!), and then we bought ourselves a pair of matching swords and wore them, complete with scabbards, all around the Faire. Surprisingly, I got my share of approving glances from some of the knights and more than a few jealous looks from their ladies.........:wink2: I wasn't dressed as a delicately pampered Elizabethan damsel, I was a free spirit with a thirst for adventure, and I walked along more jauntily than usual with my trusty sword in my belt and my faithful mate with one just like it thrust through his own.

Thus was our adventure for the day.........good morrow, thou good friends, and enjoyeth the rest of thy eventide!:chuckle

Starting the thread a bit early, eh?

Glad you had a blast at the Faire. This weekend was normally a weekend for one of 'our' re-enactments, but the dang committee cancelled it. Ah, well; there is the one coming up early October. I should get lots of pictures and *finally* post them.

    Till later....

Marla, you're starting the good morning Sunday thread talking about Saturday. Makes my head spin. Sheesh, just when we get Grace trained. hehehe

But no problem with me, but if I pick on Grace, I gotta pick on you.

We have a Renaissance Faire come through hear every winter. I've been once and it was quite interesting and fun.

I just got back from seeing RENT live. It was great, 2nd time I saw it, but I've played the sound track a million times. Love it.

Marla - we had those Faires in So. Cal at least once a year. Also the Strawberry Festival. Fun.

I actually made dinner tonight and felt bad when my little guy said "Why don't we eat dinner more often?". I looked at my husband and felt my heart sink. With him in Chester all week and the rest of us playing catch as catch can, we rarely sit down for dinner anymore. I can't believe it - this from woman who never let her kids watch tv while eating dinner and we sat down every single night. Amazing - I feel like I'm raising a different family.

    I'll try to do better.

Lots of traveling to do on Sunday - after church I take my dh back to Chester via Red Bluff, where dd is having softball practice.

Good Morning just awake long enough to feed the dogs.
Yesterday my ds had his freshman football game it was supposed to be at 10a, so like the good mom I arrive at 10a. I sit down and wait for the game to begin, and wait... wait... still waiting... I can hear others talking so I eventually find out that there was a huge mix up and the JV will play and then the freshman will play at 12n. I end up sitting in the sun for about 4 hours... got a little crispy:imbar I am usually pretty good about using sunscreen but I didn't know I would be out there all day:trout: . Anyways they had a really good gameumpiron:

Good morning. How's it all going for you today? As for me, Dd has a nasty cold so I'll be going to Wal Mart to get her some "cold" food/comfort food. Ds was up all night so he'll probably sleep all day. I got smart and had Tylenol PM so I slept well, last night. I still feel sleepy but I'm sure I'll be fine once I get moving. Been listening to Christian TV. Now that's some music I can enjoy and sing along with. Siri, I'm glad you're feelin' better. Pain's not a fond feeling. Just ask my Tigersclw. Hey, Tweety, where and when is that Fair coming to FL? Sounds like fun. I know my family would love to go. I've also got to take Dd to that tiger's conservation area one of these days. As you can guess, she loves tigers and cats of all sorts. She goes by the name "Cat". When she was little, I'd call her my "kitten". Now she's all grown up into a "Cat".
