Sunday 12/04 Good Morning!!

  1. Well, it's 1:45 a.m. here in Michigan, so I thought I'd get things rolling for Sunday.

    Good morning to all.

I haven't been on in a few days. I've been working and trying to get Christmas shopping done. Most of my Christmas cards are done. I just need stamps and I need to get the family picture developed.

About 75% of my shopping is done and about half of that is wrapped.

So who wants what for breakfast. I think I'll just set up a buffet and you all can just help yourselves. How about eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, pancakes, hashbrowns, toast, bagels, muffins, fruit, juice, milke and coffee? Oh no, now I'm hungry.

Everyone, stay safe and have a wonderful day.

    Good Morning!

I'm doing the Xmas shopping a little here...a little there. I'm trying to decide whether or not to get gifts for my co-workers. One year I gave people apricot jelly ( have a tree that produced a few bushels all at once) , last year I gave the people I deal with the most $2 boxes of gingersnaps from World Market.

It's been a really lousy year, a lot of people have left, there's a lot of new folks. Things seem to be improving though.

Just got home! Saw Pride and Prejudice, it was good! Different than the 6-hr BBC production, but then again, I knew it would be. They did a good job transitioning and passing along little tidbits of info to make the film move along (better than I expected). Great cinematography and music! I wondered, though: when the credits rolled, Dame Judi Dench was billed as "Judy Dench," without her title. I thought she was to be referred to as "Dame" from now on, r/t her career. Anyone have any ideas?

But, I really enjoyed it! Then I took the boys to Wal-Mart (yes, @ 10:30 p.m.!!), they wanted new headphones (note to self: have the four kittens de-clawed and de-toothed [they've ruined more sets of headphones!!!!]). Got them, and NOW we're home (gosh, Wal-Mart was busy @ that time of night! I was surprised, but the clerk said it was normally that busy on a Sat nite, esp. one before Christmas).

The kids enjoyed Aeon Flux. Their kind of movie: action, adventure, fighting, etc.

So, I just had a piece of leftover pizza (I know, bad me!)

I better skedaddle off to bed. Y'all have a great day, will check in again later!

Sue, hope you recover from your night.

Fluffwad, glad things are looking up at work, in spite of turnovers and changes. Those little gingersnaps sound good to me! You're thoughtful.

bethin, I used to cringe when I'd arrange for parties @ Chuck E. Cheese, because of the noise and how hyped-up the kids got. But, our house is small and I wasn't about to subject myself to having a ton of kids in the house, lol! And the kids loved going to Chuck E.'s!

Here are the Christmas Tree song lyrics ("old" and "new) -- I never dreamed it had SOOOOOOOO many verses, lol!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas tree,
    Thy leaves are green forever.
O Christmas Tree, O Christmas tree,
    Thy beauty leaves thee never.
Thy leaves are green in summer's prime,
Thy leaves are green at Christmas time.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
    Thy leaves are green forever.

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
Much pleasure doth thou bring me!
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
Much pleasure doth thou bring me!
For every year the Christmas tree,
Brings to us all both joy and glee.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
Much pleasure doth thou bring me!

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
    Thy candles shine out brightly!
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
    Thy candles shine out brightly!
Each bough doth hold its tiny light,
That makes each toy to sparkle bright.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
    Thy candles shine out brightly!

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree!
Thou tree most fair and lovely!
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree!
Thou tree most fair and lovely!
Thou dost proclaim the Savior's birth,
Good will to men and peace on earth.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree!
Thou tree most fair and lovely.

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree!
    Thou has a wondrous message:
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree!
    Thou has a wondrous message:
Thou dost proclaim the Savior's birth
Good will to men and peace on earth.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree!
    Thou has a wondrous message:

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas tree,
    O evergreen unchanging.
A symbol of good will and love,
    You'll ever be unchanging.
Each shining light, each silver bell,
No other sight spreads cheer so well.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
    You'll ever be unchanging.

O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree!
How are thy leaves so verdant!
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
How are thy leaves so verdant!
    Not only in the summertime,
But even in winter is thy prime.
O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree,
How are thy leaves so verdant!

    annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd the new:

    O Christmas Tree
    O Christmas Tree,
    O Christmas Tree,
    How steadfast are
    your branches!
    Your boughs are green
    in summer's clime
    And through the snows
    of wintertime.
    O Christmas Tree,
    O Christmas Tree,
    How steadfast are
    your branches!

    O Christmas Tree,
    O Christmas Tree,
    What happiness befalls me
    When oft at
    joyous Christmas-time
    Your form inspires
    my song and rhyme.
    O Christmas Tree,
    O Christmas Tree,
    What happiness befalls me

    O Christmas Tree,
    O Christmas Tree,
    Your boughs can
    teach a lesson
    That constant faith
    and hope sublime
    Lend strength and
    comfort through all time.
    O Christmas Tree,
    O Christmas Tree,
    Your boughs can
    teach a lesson

5scardiacnurse, wow, you are amazing, with almost all your shopping done AND started wrapping!! Strong work!

    Good Morning, Friends!!:Melody:

I can hardly believe all the posts all ready!!
I'm at work and just finished an admission. Not bad!!
24 yr. old; out drinking Fri nite & drank too much; had nausea & vomited blood; came to ER. First thing he wants---you guessed it--FOOD!! I'm So Hungry!! Can I Take a Shower???
Oh boy!! Well, at least it was uncomplicated!!
It's too bad I have to now inform him he's NPO!!! Oh well

    Not too bad a nite.

Actually--I have to run right now, but I'll be back

Thanks dianah for the verses! It's long and I can really, really annoy him with that. It's just not a holiday until we're bugging the p!$$ out of each other.

I've never had possum, but somehow I'd think I'd like it old. It's like George Clooney, it gets better with age. I think I'd like it sprayed with some skunk first and then scraped off the road BUT not before at least 10 cars have hit it. I want it mushy! Cook it over an open barbecue, add some salt and pepper, oh, and maybe some Jack Daniels. I've heard that's good on steaks. I like my meat medium well.

You have cooked possum before, haven't you?

Wait, he drank Fri night and is just now coming to the ER? What did the guy drink? Moonshine maybe?
  11. by nursemary9
    Hi

    I quote----"I had 2 or 3 drinks!!"

Me thinks that 2 or 3 normal drinks would not land him in the ER, but I guess I could be wrong!! Oh & this is a Young, otherwise healthy guy. Not even the slightest run down!!
    Hgb--16.2 /49.8

So, now we have the residents seeing him. He is very UNHAPPY with the NPO business--in fact, he wants to go home.

Oh well, without him, what would I have to do tonite!!!

Bethin, there sure are a llot of verses to that song!! I guess you could bug anyone with that!!

    Well, got to go again.

HAHA! Must be from Ohio. Only correction I have to add is if it has been hit by at least 10 cars, it won't be mushy...the mush will be oozing out of the remaining...holes... After 10 squishes it will definitely need to be scraped off the road if the vultures don't get to it first. Although with this weather it will be freeze-dried opossum!!:icon_bigg

here are the christmas tree song lyrics ("old" and "new) -- i never dreamed it had soooooooo many verses, lol!
in the movie "stalingrad" there is a short version being sung by soldiers on their way to a desperate battle - resigned to their fates, they sing it a very melancholy and sad tone on a frozen christmas eve, deep in russia in 1942.

that part of the clip always brings a lump to me throat.

this is the version in german. i've "attempted" ( ) a translation of it as well. die tanne in german refers to fir trees. weihnachtsbaum refers to a "christmas" tree.

    o tannenbaum, o tannenbaum,
    wie treu sind deine blätter!
    du grünst nicht nur
    zur sommerzeit,
nein auch im winter, wenn es schneit.
    o tannenbaum, o tannenbaum,
    wie treu sind deine blätter!

    o tannenbaum, o tannenbaum!
    du kannst mir sehr gefallen!
wie oft hat nicht zur weihnachtszeit
ein baum von dir mich hoch erfreut!
    o tannenbaum, o tannenbaum!
    du kannst mir sehr gefallen!

    o tannenbaum, o tannenbaum!
    dein kleid will mich
    was lehren:
    die hoffnung und beständigkeit
    gibt trost und kraft
    zu jeder zeit.
    o tannenbaum, o tannenbaum!
    das soll dein kleid
    mich lehren.

    the english translation ::

o christmas tree, o christmas tree
    how loyal are your leaves(needles?)!
    you're green not only
    in the summertime,
no, also in winter when it snows.
o christmas tree, o christmas tree
    how loyal are your leaves/needles!

o christmas tree, o christmas tree
you can please me very much!
how often has not at christmastime
a tree like you given me such joy!
o christmas tree, o christmas tree,
you can please me very much!

o christmas tree, o christmas tree
    your dress wants to
    teach me something:
    your hope and durability
    provide comfort and strength
    at any time.
o christmas tree, o christmas tree,
    that's what your dress should
    teach me.

hey if i'm wrong people, please don't hesistate to correct me! i don't get to practice my german much
