Summer Thunderstorms

  1. I just have to say, I love summer thunderstorms! We never get them and so when we have one, I'm like a little kid with my nose pressed to the window watching the lightning. Anyway, anyone else feel the same?

I like them too except for the one that just came through here. It was terrible. Many trees were knocked down all over the city, power was out for days for many people and it is still not all back on. It is terrible in a big city when the traffic lights don't work. And the hospital I volunteer at was chaos especially the ER. Sorry just had to vent but normally yes I love those summer thunderstorms !!

Our old house had a tin roof on the front porch and I loved to listen to the rain fall. The house was close to 100 yrs old and 2 stories-heavy winds would actually rock the top..I loved lying in bed on a rainy night....This house is newer-if you are not looking out the window you often don't know it is storming-I keep fans on with the a.c. all summer and that really muffles outdoor sounds....We have had some severe weather and it is not fun-we have run for the basement a few times. We have a long line of very old trees across the back and are surrounded by cornfields on 3 sides-when the wind really whips up it can get scary.I love snow storms,too....Love walking in it-love watching it fall.....

    Me too, ktwlpn !!!
How I miss our old farmhouse up on the mtn. !!! The entire roof was tin, and oh, how I loved to hear it rain ! And to sit out on the front porch looking down in the valleys surrounded by hill and trees.. and cows... hoping they'd be ok in the storm.

I love to be home in my jammies with a hot cup of coffee when the storms come through. I stay in the basement if they are really loud because the thunder scares my doggies and they always run to the basement.

The way I was brought up with thunderstorms, you'd think I'd be hiding under the blankets everytime, but I absolutely thunderstorms! Here's what happens... I see the dark clouds rolling in and the wind starting to kick up and the boomers start, my heart starts beating allegretto. As it gets darker and windier, I go for the candles because you never know, and I make sure I have my lighter in my pocket. Meanwhile the heart is now allegro. The lightening begins, the rain starts to pour and the wind is bending the trees, the heart is now presto and my face is plastered to the window! I adore thunderstorms! It's the rush I get with the approaching storm. I'd hate to be amongst an impending tornado, I'd probably be thrown into v-tach!

Love summer thunderstorms too . . and we have an old home with a tin roof and two stories.

Had a small one this afternoon . . . . I love it if it really rained.

I love thunderstorms so much! I live where there are clear skies about 90% + of the year. So I always look forward to monsoon season. Well, it is here now and I am looking forward to the rain, thunder and lightening. Here it is 11:00pm at night and it is 100 degrees outside! Please rain!!

We had a 4 year drought so the storms every afternoon lately have been a blessing. I love to hear rain. In fact we replaced our shingle roof with a metal one. It's not quite the same as the old tin roof sound but it's nice anyway. The only drawback is all the electronic equipment I have to secure, un plug etc and my hubby has a LOT of it.
I have a leaded glass front door with a full length glass storm door and the grandpuppies and I often sit and watch the rain.

I don't like the one that just rolled through! No power, telephone, or cell phone. The city's a total disaster area. The power company is saying it will be wednesday at least before anybody has power. Luckily, we've got family that has power out in the country

We're having one of those good old fashioned Florida thunderstorms right now. Thank goodness for surge protection and I can still surf the net!
