Stocking stuffers

  1. What's going in your kids' stocking? Back in the day, it was so much easier to fill a stocking... my son would've been happy if it had been top to bottom filled with Matchbox cars. This year he's 15 and his stocking will include:

The traditional orange. I know lots of people put it in the toe, but in my family, it always went on top.

Kraft caramels and M&Ms, also held over traditions from my childhood. I don't know their origin, but suspect my Mom chose them because she liked them herself.

Crayola color pencils. He still needs them once in a while for school projects- drawing maps and such. Again, they're a tradition that I just don't want to end.

A Russell Stover whipped cream Santa or Christmas tree, whichever one I can find at this late date. Oops, I forgot!

    A "gripper" for his DS-lite.

    A new toothbrush.

Trader Joe's chocolate coated sunflower seeds.

    A pack of Juicyfruit gum.

    AA batteries.

    A candy cane.

I found a little key-shaped gadget (at Big 5 Sporting Goods) that unfolds into two screwdrivers and some other tools.
Figured they could put it w/their keys.
New earpods (the cats always chew on theirs, IF they leave them out)

Other years they've gotten mini flashlights.
Always an orange (in the toe )
a candy cane (peeking out of the top)
    gum
    batteries.

No chocolate this year, one ds has sworn off it.
Gift cards: iPod downloads, Barnes and Noble, Starbucks (oldest ds) and Boba (youngest ds) gift cert's.
Almost got one from Best Buy tonite, but thought we'd already bought enuf.
Sometimes I tuck some $$$$ into the stocking too (a $50 bill).

Last year (not in the stocking, of course!) I got them a toilet seat for their bathroom.
Yeah, they know Mom is silly.

My dad usually makes up stockings for everyone. Usually an orange and chocolate coins. Used to put small toys in there too, but now it's more likely to be gift certificate or a DVD.

I think stockings are easier to make for 15 year old girls than 15 year old boys. My Mom always put the trial size of toiletries in our stockings, too. I liked to wear barrettes in my hair, so I always got a few of those, too. And always L'eggs pantyhose that came in a plastic egg.

Mercy reminded me..anything hair related goes into the stocking for both girls.

Yes, i'd think that doing a stocking is easier for a 15yr old girl than boy.

My thing with stockings is "anything goes" BUT anything they specificially asked for from "Santa" goes under the tree..not the stocking. I don't care how small the box/package, if they asked for it, its under the tree. This is a sticking point for my hubby and I, he thinks that anything small that can fit in the stocking should be there. I think, it is for knickknacks and dodad type things, not real gifts

    I agree with you.

That gives me an idea for another question, though. Visit my soon to be posted thread!

    Tangerine in the toe.
A few small Reese's peanut butter cups (split the pack between his & dh's stocking)
A package of pistachios. He LOVES them
    Crayons
Pillowcase with Thomas the Tank Engine
    He's 3.

Just finished stuffing the stockings, eating the cookies. Need to leave a thank-you note & a pulled-apart cotton ball. (Santa left part of his beard...)
Tis why I don't mind working 3-11 Christmas Eve.

Usually the Life savers book. Any small toys that will fit. And a box of crayons and coloring books (but not this year since my dd decided to color all of her bedroom furniture and carpet)
