St. Patty's Day

  1. Well now that it's officially the start of St. Patty's Day weekend, what is everyone doing?? I'm so excited, I finally get to go out to the bars to celebrate! I'll be going out w/ my redheaded sister tonight and I'm sure she'll get all the attention but I'm wearing a cute st. patty's day shirt I just got from old navy so I'll be showing my Irish pride. My dad is originally from there so I will have to drink a few in honor of him-I'll make him proud So who else is celebrating???

I'd love to, but a), I'm working all weekend, and b) I don't drink. St. Patrick's Day hasn't been the same since I stopped "honoring" my Irish ancestry by getting stinking, shoe-puking drunk and going into a crying jag while listening to "O Danny Boy". I wear green and play Irish music all day when I'm home, and I'll sometimes make green chocolate-chip cookies and punch, but that's about it nowadays. Oh, well......

Last year there were no bars doing anything! So, we decided to just do the corned beef and cabbage at home. Went to a few stores, but there was no cabbage to be had in this town, they were sold out! This year, we are prepared. Have the meat and the cabbage... just waiting to cook it!

When my kids were younger we would set up a leprechaun trap on the back patio. I'd take a shoe box, prop it up with a short stick, and put a raw potato in for bait. Before the kids awoke the next day, I would spring the trap and put glittery confetti and chocolate coins around the trap. They really got a kick out of it. One year I even painted tiny green feet leading away from the trap.

Omg!! That is such a cute idea!!! Mind if I "borrow" it?

My hubby is Irish, has his St. Paddys day drinking hat and all. My dad was from Cork too so we like to celebrate...

No plans yet, but I am having a big bash tomorrow night for my 40th birthday. We are having a keg with snacks and cake at a local pub!

I'm not Irish, but usually pretend over the weekend.

Well, there is an Irish Bar, right next door to my hospital. On St Patty's Day, they serve Green Eggs and Ham starting at 6am. The place'll be packed when I leave work later on this morning.

Saturday afternoon, I went to a fish fry.....Lake Erie Perch...yummy!
