sparkles in body lotion , hating it!

  1. frivilous post but I had to rant a lil!
I went to the body shop last week to pickup a little thank you for a friend at work who has given me rides home and just been a good buddy over the year, anyway , there was some lovely lotion that I tried while I was there, but it had SPARKLES in it.... okay fine I understand the excitement with sparkly body lotion if youre say , I dont know 12 years old!!!! So I proceed to the cosmetic counter at the department store to purchase my usual ralph - by ralph lauren , perfume and see they have a gift set for christmas so Im thinking okay merry christmas to me and I pick it up, only to find out that my beloved ralph lotion ALSO has these god forsaken sparkles in it!!! (noticed after I put it on after my shower) gee I'm kinda sparkly, whats up with this, so i read the box and see they added sparkles to it...okay find I get it , its trendy its cool but come on ....... I just wanted plain lotion that I could put on at work , now I'm gonna be the sparkliest nurse in toronto, my poor patients will think I'm going to a rave or something....geezus....
I am not anti sparkle, I love sparkles on cards (like the ones from allnurses buddies!) and on wrapping paper, and even a sparkly lil teeshirt here and there, but keep that stuff outta my body lotion! I understand to some it can be "sexy" looking , but if I want a man to be all turned on by my sparkly body I'll make him use some sparkly body paint on me or something
    *$*#!!&% sparkles!
    grrrrrrrrr

I bought a beautiful lip/eye pencil that did not appear to have sparkles in it at all........I apply it to my eyes and lips and suddenly, hidden in the mix, is silver glitter!!!!!!! Can you really go to work for 12 hr night shift with sick people and look like you just got done at the bar? So mad about that..................

I've gotten nail polish like that before. You just don't realize how much you look like a trashy street walker until you get it under those bright hospital lights!

    Sparkles be damned!

I don't buy it, Wendy. I bet you look seeex-aaay!

Everyone around you is asking themselves, "WHO is that girl? She shimmers! She glimmers! She glows! She sparkles!"

If nothing else, you can distract angry people by waving your arms in front of them and going, "Look! Shiny!

I go to work glittered up all the time. I pyrposly put on glitter sometimes as eyeshadow, and I put glitter on my lips. It's all koo' Ofcourse I'm 17, so that is a little difference there

This should be added to the WTF thread! Bought my grandma (late-stage Alzheimer's) some lotions and stuff for X-mas. Put some on her the other day, and it was all sparkly. Now she looks like a hussy...poor grammy!!! She smiled though when I put it on b/c it smells really good, so I guess she can keep it.

I like to look all sparkly every now and then... I have some eyeshadow that I wear to work every now and then that is sparkly, but I dont think my coworkers mind considering that the other 99.99999% of the time they get to see without ANY makeup. I guess sparkly is better than nothing. I agree though, it just doesnt feel right to get out of the bath and put on lotion to find yourself all sparkling.... kinda makes you want to re shower again, lol.

    Wendy...stop...I can't breathe!!!!

I prefer "shimmer" to "glitter" if you know what I mean, like a shimmery eye shadow I like but face & body glitter is just too much for everyday plus...the glitter tends to transfer to anyone you, er, come in contact with :uhoh21: ...guys are too fond of the glitter :chuckle when with the stores learn it just isn't practical?
