sounded and looked like wrath of God

  1. From time to time military aircraft fly over my house. Today I heard their thunder and recognized it. I think they were those new helicopters that replaced the Apache. Are they called Cherokee? Anyway, I imagine it was air national guard but they looked regular army. They also looked brand new. Most of them had places for mounting guns but not all. They were flying just about due north, to what I don't know. I never saw so many before and always before it was on a weekend just before dawn so I could barely see them. Rare to see so many on a weekday in the afternoon. I counted 10 and I waited a while to go out and look. Sometimes transports fly over. They fly lower than civilian aircraft and make a terrible noise also. Maybe to invade Canada. Just kidding.

Actually, that's probably true! I spent a long time in the US Army, and I can state categorically that the chopper pilots are not too tightly wrapped!

I think Sleepyeyes is on to something there. Happens to be a pub north of here that is famous for it's fish sandwich and fries. Also, is a hot spot for watching football. They are probably going to land in the parking lot and have dinner and watch Monday night game. Just watched the Steelers there myself yesterday.

Probably Army reservists headed for Canada to fill Rxs for their elderly relatives who can't afford the drugs here in the US.

It's a bad time to invade Canada because be have an unlimited snowball supply and a tank modified to shoot further and more accurately than of your dammed ace pilots.

To civilians that sound might be intimidating, but to an alert soldier with a stinger surface to air missle, the sound would generate feelings of excitement.

We are in a major flyway in N. GA. We see all kinds of military and civilian aircraft. A lot of them fly VERY low after dark, and we are in the mountains! It is quite scary!
