It's no different for us... "school" never ends. We've been educating our kids at home for 20 years..

My dear old Dad, God rest his soul, used to claim that Mother's Day was NOT the 2nd Sunday in May--it was the 1st day of school!! :roll

prmenrs......smart Dad you got there! :chuckle I never even thought of that one all these years, but it sure makes perfect sense. :kiss

joyflnoyz........if I were raising a family today, I would homeschool them myself, too. There's NO WAY I went through a combined total of 27 months of carrying my babies, and going through a combined total of 33+ hours of labor....not to mention the 24 hour lag between the second births start and end of labor where I eventually had to be induced because my labor stopped two hours into the moment...just to have my kids subjected to the drama within the school systems today by angry kids who have a gripe or two or three against society.......for whatever reason. No maam.....I would be their teacher......and no one else today!

One of my younger sisters homeschooled both her sons, and they did quite well through school. She made boo-koo sacrifices to be able to homeschool them, too, but to her......it was all worth those sacrifices. So......hats off to all of you who are homeschooling your children. I'm sure you catch a lot of flack for doing so, but society will complain about anything and almost everything today, so don't mind them. Keep up the good work! :kiss

As a recently divorced 39 year old mother of 3, my ex has my kids out of the state for 2-3 weeks, and this is my first experience having them away. I'm not coping with it well at all. I'll never complain about kids being out of school for the summer again. Guess "you don't know what you've got till it's gone"

We're having fun. I'm not picking up days at work this summer.

We stay up late, sleep in late (he gets in bed with me when his daddy leaves in the morning), do fun lazy summer things all day

I always dread it when a new school year starts. It feels like they're ripping him from my uterus all over again.

Alright, with all the remarks about being too attached to your kid....

I don't want my last remark to sound weird! I'm just not one of those moms that is giving high 5's to the other moms outside school on the first day back. I'm quite depressed for about a week or so (or until I max out a credit card, whichever comes first)

Heather......I think your relationship with your son is marvelous! Your son is a very blessed little boy.......as are his parents for having him in your lives as well. :kiss

Linda ((((HUGS)))) I've been there....done the divorce thing....also left with raising three kids.....it's tougher than tough. We should form a thread here for divorced nurses who are coping with the pain of divorce and facing the challenge of being a single parent for the first time in their lives. Ummmmm.....I smell another thread of mine taking root! :chuckle :kiss I'm sending you my email address in case you need a shoulder to lean on. Use it IF you want....I'm here for ya!

Thank you Renee for your kindness. I'll take Cheddar with my whine. Forgive my temporary pity party. I just miss my kids.

We're having a blast!! I was gonna work all summer but then I realized that this will probably be the last summer I'll have off with them.. So I said heck with that--we're having fun.. We go to the beach, to the pool, to the lake--they have this little water park there with slides and all. It has been an awesome summer, but I am starting to have moments of "I need to talk to a grownup" All in all though, they haven't driven me nearly as nuts as I would have thought...:chuckle

Mine last 2 school aged kids are 17 & 19.

I remember when I hated sending them all back to school in the fall...this year September can't get here fast enough...

I miss my car and my ATM card.
