Songs for Moms and Babies, Ideas ??

  1. Hi everyone,

I'm writing to hopefully get some ideas from all of you.

My best friend is about 4 months pregnant and is about 3 hours away from home and feeling kind of lonely.

I wanted to make her a CD of some different songs for her and her baby and I wanted to know if any of you had ideas as to good songs.

So far I have a couple ranging from inspirational like "Shine" by Dolly Parton to Sentimental like "If I Could" and even some funny and fast songs like "I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross.

If you have any ideas please share! I guess anything that might come to mind when thinking about the emotional and physical bonds of mother and child and even some funny ones too. I was thinking of that song that goes "Cry Baby" by Janis Joplin.

    Thanks for your input!

There's an absolutely beautiful song written that my wife used to sing during our "musical cabaret" days. It was a tear-jerker. . . really a lovely song!

Wish I could remember the title of the song and it's artist!

Just asked my wife the name of the song. . .

It's titled, The Best Gift . Unfortunately, neither one of us could remember the composer of the song. However, Barbara Steisand sung this song on one of her albums.

Not sure if your friend is religious, but there's a song (I think it's called Mary's Song?) sung from the perspective of Mary carrying Jesus, I know I've heard a version by Amy Grant.

Definitely gotta have "I hope you dance". I love that song...makes me tear up. Walmart sells a lovely book with the words and then a CD of the single...have been hoping someone would buy it for me. No luck

Thought of another one: Madonna's "Little Star", off her Ray of Light album. Very sweet.

I found a great lullaby CD for my granddaughter... "The McCaughey Septuplets - Sweet Dreams". The songs are sung by various musicians.

A couple of my favorites songs from the CD are "Up To the Moon", sung by Kathy Lee Gifford (even tho I usually DON'T like her music)and "Peace Be Still" sung by Sandi Patty.

The proceeds from this CD goes to a foundation to help parents of multiple births.

By the way, today, November 19th is the McCaughey Septuplets 5th Birthday!
