So, what now?

  1. I just got done reading those two posts about leaving the board and am sort of bummed out. I have just started getting into all of this and see that members are leaving. I honestly don't know whether it is worth my time to stay here and get to know people or if it is so bad that I should just back away.
Can I have a little encouragement? One way or the other, I guess.

    Scarlett,
I have NO idea what went on & the reason people have/are leaving, so can't enlighten you.
However, I DO encourage you to participate & enjoy sharing & learning & taking part in the various debates.
I'm one of the "Older" members, the over fifties (HELP! Where HAVE the years gone??!)LOL and I NEVER tire from reading the posts & seeing what people think & feel on various topics. It's a wonderful way to learn many things by communicating with others & sharing our knowledge.
We are NEVER TOO old to learn. And the "younger" ones keep us "oldies" in touch, in tune & incontinent with laughter!!! LOL
Don't go away.... stay & participate & enjoy!
    Cheers,
    Grace

Some people's hurt is so deep and their anger so real that they feel the need to separate, because resolution is not coming. I certainly can understand.

We can't rewrite the past nor live in it. Don't let the past or other people's hurt affect you. I can emphasize, and be angry and hurt along with them, but their stuff is their stuff based on their history with this board. Mine has been different. Yours will be too.

The board has changed. It definately isn't going to be what it used to and I have my own opinions about that and what happened, but I'm not going there anymore. I feel that leaving that mess behind. Staying within the TOS, staying positive and friendly, even when we disagree with someone it's possible to have a great board. Not what it used to be, but things are never what they used to be.

The only way a lot of people can have "closure" is to leave, that's sad but necessary for them.

I have always made up my own mind about things and that isn't going to stop now. I guess that reading the post from nurse4kids just bummed me out and I needed to vent a bit. I like coming to this board. I can spend literally hours reading threads and wonder where the time has gone.
Guess I will just stick around and see what happens. I am an internet veteran and so I doubt I will suddenly start violating the TOS when it seems to be simple manners, etc.

My best endorsement for new people coming to this board is this.

When I have a problem, and maybe I don't want to discuss it with friends/family, and want some input from others; I always
receive good advice from Allnurses posters.

Or if I am curious about something and don't know the answers, I can always come here and ask, and someone out there in
Allnurses Cyberland will have prior knowledge & experience, and responds to my query.

So, I think it is a very helpful place.

Where else can we go- 24/7- and post a problem and know
we will find a friend who will take the time to give it their
best shot and give us all the assistance they can?

I think it is reassuring to have a link like that.

    Stay !

Grace Oz said it best: However, I DO encourage you to participate & enjoy sharing & learning & taking part in the various debates."

I agree, that's what it's all about enjoying, sharing, learning and taking part.

Since you're new, you missed the heartache that occurred. Those that feel, even now that they must leave, respect that, miss their input and join in our family.

I don't think we're re-hashing all that, so lets move on and live in the now, not the past. There are many people here looking for help, to give help or just talk to a friend.

looking to hear more from you.

Girl, you better stay, if one more good person leaves, I am going to stab myself in the eye with my pen sitting here in front my compter! This is truly a good place, I know I have learned so much here, doncha leave us! Besides I don't think I could work the eye patch vibe, ya know?

I also think it is quite depressing reading the threads about people leaving the boards, especially after so mnay people left not so long ago,

I guess it is up to everyone who is still here to keep the spirit of this board alive and in the way it was meant, I haven't even qualified yet, I would love to be able to talk on allnurses, when I that far, until then I am hoping to carry on getting support and converstaion to help me get through my course.

I never really read all the rules until yesterday had to see what all the fuss was about.I don't cuss and I don't belittle people with calling them names.I enjoy my time here and find all of you are a bunch of great people. If we can't disagree with each other in a respectful way on a post( in my opinion)we would not be acting very Adult like.I think this can go on to be a great site if we all want it to be.Just my 2 cents anyway...

I agree with Whisper, to keep the spirit alive, this board is for all of us to enjoy. I've already been reading some great threads in off-topic lately. Humerous, creative, helpful, interesting, educational. etc.
