So, so sick!!

  1. I have been slammed with this horrible flu/sinus infection/throat infection/bronchitis type superbug that has wiped me off my feet for the past week (my only week off of course!). I have been taking advil q4h for 7 days and my head feels like it will explode any second, my eyes are swollen, my muscles and joints HURT, I can barely talk, my voice is fading away,I'm coughing, my chest aches, etc etc. I am supposed to go back to school tomorrow and start my psych rotation. I am on antibiotics but they are doing nothing. Any home remedies or tips you use to boost your immune system quick? I tried vitamin C as my mother suggested but taking it for the past 7 days has again done nothing!! Thanks for any and all natural remedy tips!!!!!

    hi ferball,

obviously it's viral what you have......and yes, it does suk. anyway, let nature take it's course; fluids, honey, lemon-whatever you think works. but the most important thing to me is don't stress about it-worst thing for your immune system. if you can't make it to psyche tomorrow or the next day, classes will still be there for you and you'll be much more ready to handle it when you're feeling well. just be good to yourself and the rest can wait.

Oh my gosh, I can feel for you. I battled that about three weeks ago. I finally went to the doc after two weeks of thinking I would get better on my own. I did have bronchitis and all the other crud you talked about. She put me on a Z-pac and within 36 hours I felt 100% better. It took a good three days for the cough to subside, but I felt like a new person after two days. I hope you get to feeling better very soon. Z-Pac did the trick!! What antibiotics are you on?

Poor baby !!! Hope you feel better soon, try zinc lozengers, chicken soup, advil cold & sinus works well too. Lots of rest, sherbert for your scratchy sore throat, lots of liquids too.

Hope you feel better soon. Get plenty of rest and try to ease yourself back into your routine, not always easy I know.

I had that! I still have the brochitis part, but for the rest of the stuff nature had to take its course. I forund that hot baths and showers brought alot of relief.

Is this z-pac perscription only? I have heard of it before, all good things, can you find it in a drug store?

It is by prescription only. It is an antibiotic that is taken for five days. It sounds as though you do need to go back and see your doctor again. I kept putting it off for two weeks and I only got worse.

Sorry you feel so sukkie. Steam and mentholated products help, but you may have had a viral thing that turned into a secondary bacterial infection. Better go see the doc/NP person.
p.s: When I was in school the same thing happened to me during the first week of Psych rotation as well! Had fever, a sinus and ear infection. Was lousy! If you have a school with a "zero absence "rule, then show up and then tell the instructor you are sick. Go to a doc and get a note.
    Feel well soon

Well, I was given Zithromax for 5 days, double on the 1st. Don't know if this is the Z-pack you are talking about. It is nasty on my tummy though! Probably don't need it as it is not working so I probably have a virus. My voice is almost completetly gone but I had a good night's sleep and feel a bit better. Thanks for all the replies! Off to 1st day of psych- YOWZERS. I am soooooo nervous. Don't know what it will be like, don't quite know how to communicate with psych pts....guess it will be an adventure
