Sneaky Parents: C'mere...

  1. I was all stressed trying to figure out where to hide Emma's Christmas gives that are arriving from when it suddenly occurred to me: THE DRYER!! the old one not being used in the garage, that is. I am a GENIUS!! It was either that or the wheelbarrow and cover the boxes with an old tarp.

So, tell me, what clever and ingenious ways do you use to hide gifts and where?

I have a wet bar that is in a closet that is never used, so that is where I hid my stuff. Ofcourse, mine is only 6 and isnt into searching for presents. My mom used to hide our stuff at grandmas or in the trunk of the car

I'm not a parent but my mother's method was very effective. SHe told us that if she caught us searching we would lose a present, and had everything in the closet in her bedroom. During the month of December we were not allowed in that room without explicit permission and an escort. She also said that if we found a present destined for Christmas it would be sent back to the store because ALL the presents had to be surprises. Even if it was at the top of our list. WE NEVER went looking, and would warn her if we were going anywhere near her room.

All of you...get help. you are delusional.

There is no such thing as HIDING presents from those little, and not so little, crumbsnatchers.

If they want to find them, they will.

Conoehead's mom had the right idea, probably the only effective way. They know, you know, and they know what will happen if they go on a SAR mission for the "lost" presents.

I have forgot where I have hidden presents before. My boys are big enough to go hunting for them. I have some of the bigger stuff over at my FIL's house, others shoved in a closet, some in my hope chest. I am definitely running out of ideas of where to stash stuff though.

Emma is TOTALLY a believer of Santa Claus. Last year when my Dad and brother were visiting, I had my brother bellow a big "HO HO HO" from downstairs early Christmas morning. You should have seen Emma bolt from out of a sound sleep and go running downstairs. It was hilarious!

My parents used Canoehead's Mom's method also.

Emma thinks the garage is "creepy" so I'm safe.

My mom hides mine in the spare bedroom closet I used to search when I was little, but I like surprises now . . . but If i wanna know, there in that bedroom closet.

My Mom always hid them at Grandma's house, but it came to the point that she had to tape them with duct tape instead of clear! We used to slit the tape and slide the box out. We were rotten kids.

I hide Brian's presents up on my closet shelf, but he knows they're there. He's just really not interested, he likes the surprise.

A few years ago he was bugging me about it pretty bad, so I called his bluff and said "fine, here, you can have one." As I reached up into the closet he started screaming "NO NO NO, I'M JUST KIDDING! PLEASE NO!"

    Haven't had a problem since.
