Skydiving Wedding

  1. Hello Friends..... Just wanted to share my happy plans and see if you have any wedding advice to share.. Planning ideas, etc.
I got engaged on Christams Day 2003. We have set a date for April 27, 2005. Now, I have to pray hard it does not rain. We are having a skydiving wedding. We are going to have about 100 guests.
The Plan: The chairs will be set up over looking the drop zone. (we hope we land in the right place) There will be an aisle runner divider between the sets of chairs, and an archway at the end in front of our guests,(of course)
The wedding will be on the ground, and then we (and our entire wedding party) five of us.. will go in the plane and make the dive! We are really looking forward to this.
None of us have skydived before, but we are going tandem with an instructor each. We are not going to do any test jumps prior too. saving it all for our big day.
Our color scheme is white and Blue... (Skyblue of course ) and we are having our reception later that evening.
What started out as a very small and simple thing, has turned out to be quite big. Family coming from all over the country and such.
Any one else ever had a skydiving wedding?
Ideas for menu? Ideas for favors?

Monica, congratulations to you! I haven't been to a skydiving wedding, but I did my first tandem jump about a year ago and it was a fantastic experience! What better way to take this "leap of faith" and start a new life together! Very symbolic. (ok, I'll stop now before I get all misty-eyed ... :chuckle )

Keep us posted on the wedding plans. Best of luck to you both.

The plans are coming along... and after looking at over 6,000 dresses on line, I still have not made a choice. The wedding is on the ground, then we can go change before the skydiving jump.. reception is planned, most details are planned.. still alot to do though.. and there is 205 days left!

    Have fun.

I'm sure you will get teased by the skydivers about skydiving specific 'aids'. It's an ongoing joke among skydivers that skydivers are susceptible to AIDS aka "Altitude Induced Divorce Syndrome". Once one person is hooked, unless the partner is a skydiver also, divorce is almost always inevitable.

Hopefully, if one of you decides to continue with the sport, both of you will! Otherwise, watch out! :chuckle

Interesting.. I have never heard that one.. I think we will like it and fully expect that dear fiance will want to make a sport of it.. Thanks for your input.
