This is the latest update from the 'Urban Legends' website about the Marine Ted Boudreaux, who appears to have been photographed with a sick sense of humor that used 2 Iraqi kids posing with offensive signs in English.

I post this link, because many people wrote that I had posted a made up event online solely to disparage the US military. But the burden of evidence still appears to be, that this was an actual attempt at being funny about war that this individual marine actually cooked up with his buddies as war memorablia. In other words, that this was not something that 'antiwar kooks' did to disparage the US military unfairly.

So, out of curiosity, was that ONE of your reasons for posting it? Just wondering..

either way, whatever. Your posting it was offensive to us who are vets and active duty and it was irresponsible. It was hurtful to me as a vet and wife of an active duty military man. Why ANOTHER thread on this? Can we NOT let it rest already? why not ADMIT you made a mistake?

Thank you. Former military wife here..my husband served in the Army for 11 years and had to get out due to injury. My father in law served 33 years in the Marine Corps, including 3 tours in Vietnam.

Actually, it was the American Muslim community that was offended by the attitude that the Marine had that got the whole thing going? I posted it because I thought it very typical of the attitude of young GIs in combat in Iraq towards the population in that country. And I still do.

Since my last name happens to be an Arabic one but not recognizable as such to most Americans, I come across the real attitude that ALL Americans have towards Arabs constantly, let alone just the US soldiers doing the fighting. That's because they think I'm just another White male who they can share their cultural and racial prejudices with. And they blurt out their antiArab racism to me generally without even the beginning of a clue about how offensive they are being.

And there is no more miserable pretense to the invasion and why we are there, than the pathetic comedy excuse spouted out constantly by Bush and his conservative backers in LaLa Land, than that it is merely a US governmental effort to help a segment of the Arab world out. What an ugly facade of concern. 'Compassionate Conservatism' of the warmonger is what it is, and thoroughly nauseating dishonesty.

Want to help the Arab world out, Cheney? Then get your butt out of the Middle East. My message to the American GI, too. And many have already begun to figure that out easily enough on their own.

AHHHHHHHHHhh oh boy it becomes clearer all the time, Hardee! I see, so spew a little hatred our way? is that it? Your perception is you have been wronged, hurt, by Americans and their anti-arab sentiments, (none of which are expressing any here at the boards, by the way)----- so why not make these "offenders" feel it a bit?

Ummm, sorry, dont' buy it. You were still wrong in that posting. It was still irresponsible and offensive to me. But I see clearly, Owning up is apparently NOT your style. Too bad.

It tends to happen when others are offensive.

If discussing the role and attitudes of the US military is considered 'spewing hatred' then I am guilty as charged, SmilingBlueEyes. NH
