Should I be Jailed?

  1. I admit it. I taste a grape out of the bunch before I buy them. Yeah, that's right. Right out in plain view. I dare someone to say something. I contend there is no way to smell a grape to know it's taste or freshness.

Sure, you can tell by the greenness (sp?) of the stalk, but unlike apples, you can't smell or feel the fruit. So, fruit connoisseurs, am I wrong for tasting the grapes?

I'm not sure. I chose that you must be bored. Actually, I didn't read what it was about first. My answer would be neutral. I have eaten grapes to sample them just like you said, but I have never done it around the kids. My brother used to ask me what stops you from ripping open a bag of Doritos and finding out if they're fresh? LOL

I was raised to taste grapes. My grandparents owned a fruit/produce store when I was young and used to work (well, volunteer as I was never paid) and that seemed to be common acceptable practice. So no, Vegas, while you probably feel a tad guilty because you are a good respectable citizen, it's perfectly legal in the "fruit biz."

My grandma taught me to eat the grapes in the store. She wasn't even buying them sometimes! Just pop 'em off and munch on 'em as she was shopping. But I always thought it was BAAAAD.

Not to say I've never taken one or two. Or other things....in my youth.

Nowadays, though, who knows what pesticides are on there? I like to eat my fruit thoroughly washed!

Vegas--keep on picking. Grapes are good!!

    *sigh*

i have a feeling that here in Flori-duh you'd not only be jailed but there would be a constitutional amendment regarding grape-eating in grocery stores.....

Nope, I don't think your headed for a life of crime I haven't bought grapes in a long time so I can't remember if I personally sampled, but I was raised in a sampling family...

...I do however enjoy sampling every free food sample in the grocery, you know to see if I "like" Tony's Pizza or some Pace salsa :uhoh21: So really I think it would be the fault of the grocery store for promoting and encouraging sampling

I try 'em too. Big deal. The only way to tell if they're any good, even if they did come from Chile and were fertilized with human excrement.

    Pappy.....fee;ing extra cynical today.

I'm with kittyw-- I can't imagine eating a grape before washing it-- Too many potential cooties!
  12. by LasVegasRN
I know, but I'd rather have one cootie than buy a bag full of sour grapes.

Thief! Theif!...Checker....There's a thong modeling woman in your fruit department EATING GRAPES before they are purchased. This behavior is not acceptable and raises the price of fruit for us law abiding citizens. Please call the police.....!!!!
