Shaklee Vitamins

  1. Does anyone have any experience with Shaklee vitamins? I've heard some good things about them and am considering giving them a try.
I am currently on a pre-natal vit. that my ob/gyn prescribed, I'm not preg. but trying, just wondering if Shaklee would be better or equivelant to my current pre-natals.

They're probably like any other vitamin you can buy anywhere, IMO.

I understand that if you are taking pre-natal vitamins because you are pregnant or hope to be, you should stick with the special "pre-natal" vitamins because many regular OTC vitamins lack Folic Acid which is very imporant for fetal growth and healthy development. Also, pre-natal vitamins provide the necessary quantities of other vitamins and minerals.

If they make a pre-natal vitamin, I would check to see that Folic Acid and other vitamins and minerals are in sufficient quantities.

    OceanBlue,

I agreewith Colleen. If you are taking a Prenatal Vit that was prescribed or recommended by your OB/GYN, you should stick with that because of the proper amounts of vits and folic acid that may be missing from regular vitamins. I can tell you that I have taken Shaklee vits and they are excellent quality. There is also another company out there called Symmetry that makes vitamin and dietary suppliments that rival Shaklee. For now.......stay with your PreNatals.......You will thank your self in the end when you are sharing the special moment with your SO/DH and in the end hold a beautiful, healthy baby in your arms.

Thanks for your responses, I actually started taking the Shaklee vit.'s a week ago, the Shaklee rep. claims that they have "more" of a supply of vit./min. than the regular pre-natals, hope I did the right thing as it wasn't cheap. I'm on the multi, calcium bid, womens hormone balance tid, extra iron qd & protien powder qd. Maybe I got "sucked in", but the rep. explained to me that the Shaklee's provide your body with 100% of the necessary ingedients where as the OTC pre-nats only supply you with a trace, after their broken down in your system. Hope I did the right thing.

Neither Shaklee or Symmetry are cheap. Both are very pricey. Both work well. All I can tell you is to compare ingredient lables. The up side is that there aren't all the binders and additive in the Shaklee and Symmetry products like there are in the OTC stuff.....but I am digressing. Compare the ingredient lables see how they measure up and remember...some herbal suppliments are not good for women that are pregnant or trying to get pregnant. Good luck.
