Senseless Murders...

  1. I got a phone call this morning from my best friend of over 40 years. Her nephew, who has a college degree in IT, and who was in training to be a truck driver (he couldn't find any work in his field), was brutally murdered by an ex-student last Monday night. This animal kidnapped, then proceeded to rob and shoot this poor boy in the head...several times, before leaving him in the parking lot of an ATM.

Thank God they caught this guy, but the damage has already been done. My heart aches for my dear friend, for I know what she is going through. 22 years ago, my 77-year-old aunt (my late father's older sister), was stabbed to death by her yardman, who had just gotten out of prison only two months before, on drug charges.

    I just don't understand.

Nothing to "understand;" your post title says it all: Senseless. My heart aches for the boy, and for his family as they grieve their way through this.

My heart goes out to you and your friend. Just today my mother attended the memorial ceremony of a childhood friend of mine (we were the same age) who was killed by a girlfriend's jealous ex. I felt it wasn't appropriate for his mother (and another couple whose child, also my age, recently died of a brain tumor) to see me and my son alive and well. What has the world come to? Or is it just that maybe we were lucky enough not to be too touched by it all until now?

I think we are just more aware of things like this, and events in general, due to modern media coverage. If you were to pick up a newspaper from the 1800s or a clay news tablet from Egypt, I bet you'd find the same things going on then that go on now.

Just my thoughts. Again, condolences to you and yours.

Sorry to hear of this so close to home. My heart and prayers go out to you and the boy's family and friends. And to think that stupid things like this happen every single day.

It's pure evil. That kind of evil is incomprehensible. Hugs.
