I had cable internet last year and have SBC DSL now and I don't really notice any difference. Because we had to wait 2 weeks for our activation, we had AOL dialup in between (we moved and our new place isn't wired for cable internet) so I can't make a good comparison because watching grass grow is faster than AOL dialup!

I've heard that DSL speed will vary a lot depending on stuff like how close/far you are to a signal center or whatever it's called. I'm satisfied with my service though, over all.

I had a cable modem in Michigan until I moved over here and loved it. Especially since the last place that I moved to, I didn't even install a land-line and only used mobile phones. Actually worked out much cheaper that way because of all of the goofy charges that SBC has in Michigan.

    I have DSL!
Its great!. My computer is on 24/7 so i just plop down in my chair and start clicking. No waiting for dial-up. Faster page loads, too.
Highly reccomend it. Totally worth it.

I had SBC DSL until we moved and then it would not go to the new house, loved the speed and customer service was good if you had a modem problem. We have warpdrive (cable internet) now and I leave it on all the time too. No waiting to log on and it is also fast. I would say they are about the same, I would go with the cheaper of the two I see very little difference in speed or quality of connection

We have had SBC DSL for a year or so, and are very happy with it. I can't compare it with cable, having never tried that because we used to have a dial-up connection. It's wonderful as my laptop travels with me when I visit my son, all I have to do is plug into his DSL, even though I have an iBook, and we use Airport at home.
