1. Well, Good Saturday Morning . . .from a bleary eyed nurse. :smilecoffeeIlovecof

Busy night in the ER . . then a long drive home with many many sightings of deer.

I'm so tired . . I'm shaking. Just ate a turkey sandwich and some milk.

Headed to bed now - maybe I'll see y'all tomorrow . . . or maybe I'll sleep in because I work again Sat noon to midnight. Orientation . . .

Steph... how awful. When will your orientation be over? You be very, very careful... especially with the deer! It's that time of year here, too. But nocs it's especially dangerous, and makes one all the more tired when you have to concentrate so hard behind the wheel. (((hugs)))

jmgrn..Orlando? For fun ? Then enjoy, enjoy ! And have a safe trip !

ddrn..sounds like you have a pleasant day and evening ahead as well. Good for you. No, dd hasn't picked out a name yet, because she was focusing all girl names all this time.. she was "SURE" it was a girl, and everyone at work kept telling her it was because of the way she was carrying... yeh right.
I had told her not to listen to that!

Siri... PALS again, huh? Guess you won't get to hang out here with us.... again.

Joe...take lots of mini breaks to give your mind and body some refreshment. Shake the cobwebs out. :spin:

Well, dh just left for a big day of golf, Minnie Moo is curled up here on the bed with me as I enjoy my first cuppa. Nothing big planned for today (yay!).. just a little piddling here and there. Need to scrub the tub and wash the shower curtains and maybe wash the bedroom windows, that's all on my agenda for today. Might take Minnie for a short ride over to the Parkway later this afternoon and take her for a nice walk.

Well, hope everyone has a good day today be it at work or play.

I had a good night with only 5 patients on noc's med-surg. What a pleasure (have been taking care of 9-10 pt's lately).
I'm off for the weekend, no plans really. Maybe cleaning gutters and windows. Take the dogs to the dogpark, enjoy my DH.

Have a great weekend everybody, going to sleep in a bit,

Good Morning Diana, and :groupwelcome:

The more the merrier!

Your weekend sounds like mine.. just a relaxing time with a little puttering here and there.

I use to live in CT. My children were born there. Lovely area this time of year especially.

"GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING Y'ALL!"

How is everyone this fine Saturday Morning?
I know. I know. My posting has been very sporadic of late - I'm missing out on a lot of "good stuff" here at AN.com

What can I say? Life has been 'hectic' for a while now. My aunt decided to take some "time off" with my Uncle - and goodness knows the two of them deserve it! They've been through a lot in the recent past (especially my aunt with her breast ca. diagnosis, chemo and radiation and all that) - so I volunteered to kinda "watch over" my cousin while they are away.

He's a good kid. A smart kid.

But he's also a teenager. And in typical teenager fashion, he thought I was "clueless" about "the world"... about "girls" ... about "love, heart ache and heart break" and pretty much everything else in the world (including a silly proposition about how "basketball is superior to hockey" but I digress). :stone

Y'all know what I mean, right? Hey! Forget the fact that I was in his very shoes barely 10 years ago! What was that quote?
Quote from Mark Twain
When I was a boy of 14, my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21, I was astonished at how much the old man had learned in seven years.
:chuckle Me thinks my cousin will end up having a "dose of reality" real soon - my only hope is that he gets it sooner than latter and it isn't as painful a lesson (as mine was! )

Now, as for your "song for the day"... it comes with a little twist.
Please listen/watch the two of them:

Song 1 link

Link for video 2

Now y'all will no doubt notice that both videos feature the same song.

The song is called "Farewell to Slavianka". It is a Russian march (originally titled: "Proshchanie Slavianki"). Y'all can find some more information here.

Video 1: is footage I dug up from the bowels of the internet, thanks to a mutual friend on a "WWII history website".

Video 2: is associated footage. Actually, the friend who helped me "dig up" video 1, initially pointed me towards "video 2".

Steph: Is there no closer ER/workplace?! I know you kinda started on a new job.

I refused a plum posting at a town 40 minutes away because I refused to drive that distance over the interstate if I could avoid it! The job may have paid me more - but the risks to me were not worth it!

Well! I hope you get some good, sound sleep!

Pleasant dreams!

Hi Mary!

Haha! As a young kid, I was often given "chores" by family because: "He needs something to do". Almost reminds me of a grandparent of mine and what he said when I graduated High School:

Grandpa: "Son! You should become a Doctor."
Me: "Huh?! Really?! Why do you think so, Grandpa?"
Grandpa: "Because Son! We have no doctors in the family!"

Oh well...

Siri! Hope your PALS goes better than my attempts to "register" for the ACLS class (over the strident objections of my charge nurse - reason being "we'll be understaffed!")

I read your exploits! I read your tales! I saw them pictures!
And I was truly happy Jnette, that you, Mutti and your family had an enjoyable Oktoberfest!

Glückliches Oktoberfest!

*sigh* Sabby - I wish I could afford a dog. I grew up on my grandpa's far - he had 14 dogs (2 of them Great Danes!). Folks used to joke that he had more dogs than people on his farm!! :chuckle!

Hi guys, made it thru my nursing school class reunion. This was from a diploma school program here in Maine. Living in the dormitory used to be mandatory, so a lot of the older classes had several members - probably due to their being more like "sisters".

My class had only one: me.
And the class before me: one.
Then there was one friend I used to work w/, 10 yrs older than I, and two other women I knew there that I had met socially. So I wasn't TOTALLY alone, thank God.

As the youngest class member, I got to give out a rose to the oldest (class of 1954 I think?). It was funny because the speaker (a former prof of mine and also class member...) pointed out the lady to give it too - but I thought she was pointing to someone else and I gave it to that person who was nowhere near in her 70's! Just a tad nervous? Everybody laughed - but it was ok... I like making people laugh (for those who know me here that is no surprise).

There was a raffle to benefit the alumni assoc., and also we donate $ to the hospital (we were hosp. affiliated) which is building an entire brand new facility. I put in five bucks and won this WONDERFUL platter - shaped like a house - I wish I could find it on ebay, it is so unique! What else - oh, I had been wondering what to wear, I decided to wear what I had already which looks great on me (so I hear ) and is very comfortable ... so...

Here I am enjoying my am cup of coffee without having to look too hard at the clock yahoo!
