Satisfied with election?

  1. Is anybody besides me happy about the election? In my state Democrats have been in charge ever since Reconstruction! I'm sorry that the Democrats lost, but people are starting to realize what's really important and they voted for who they thought would do the best job. I'm glad to see so many people are realizing the Right is about freedom, not the other way around! Sorry for offending whoever I offended, but isn't it great that we can voice our opinions without persecution? That's what America's all about!

Of course it's great we can voice our opinions. And NOOOO, I'm not happy with the way things turned out!

The democrats took the governor's office in my state. Not too crazy about this particular guy, but was not really crazy about the other candidate either. I am pleased that the national elections went the way they did. I think it was a pat on the back to the president for the way he has led the country for the last two years, but now the republican party will have to "put up or shut." It was a grand victory for them, but now there is no where to go but down. They have two years to prove themselves.

That sums it up for me.

    happy with the election? ha!

but then again.....I probably wouldn't be happy with the Dems either. They aren't liberal enough! Where are the socialist/green candidates?

Yea i never feel well-represented in any candidate that runs. But then I need to shut the H#ll up I guess...I don't run myself! No, I don't like seeing either "BIG PARTY" overwhelmingly running things........very unbalanced.

I Don't believe in the party system - I feel that it does not work for the good of the country.

Where are all the independant thinkers?

Mel and Portland Guy, you two are frightening. :chuckle

Dh and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the election results come in on Fox News. Ahhhhh. Such sweet sweet relief.

Maybe I should bring back my weekly Rush Limbaugh quotes? :chuckle

Nope - not happy with the results. I'm afraid of some of the things that the current administration will take this as a mandate for. Guess in about a year or so I'll have to get a bumper sticker that says "Don't blame me - I voted for the other guy"

Not happy at all, but don't get me started. LOL

I think this quote says it all!

Now I really dislike political discussions and so I first wonder why this was started in off topic? Isn't there a political section to the board for stuff like this?
And now I've gone and read it and....

Am I happy? Frightened is a better word!
But are you all really happy? If we are all still here a year from now let's reopen this thread and see just what emotion we are feeling...
Very frightening to have one party running the country...
Too much power in the hands of one party, (any party) is not a good thing!
For everyone who voices how happy they are with the outcome, don't you know that if the republicans want to they can change the way we live in a day! What freedoms we may keep or not! There is no party to stand in their way of deciding what is 'best' for you and me!
You hear the saying, "What this country is all about" quite a bit lately... And what "IS" this country all about... Is it about waving a flag around since 9/11? (where was your flag before that?)
I thought it was about the people of the country, not taking up a personal vendetta of your father's...
The mission in afghanistan has not been completed or successful, Osama Bin Laden is alive! So I ask why are we going to war with Iraq? Osama Bin Laden is Saudi Arabian!
Sometimes I think we get bored with life?
I have not lived through a World War... How many people here have?
People will die! People will come back in body bags... It will not be just a matter of dropping a bomb or two and a week later it's over, not this time! And what about the people who are here during the war... Ever here of "Rationing" I thought I was inconvenienced when I couldn't get my cell phone replaced due to the dock strike!
Now think about this... How many of us drive a car that uses... GAS? Wonder what will happen if they use chemical or germ warfare on the people in the country? Smallpox... Gee, now where did they get that from???????????
Prepare yourselves folks, WW3 is on the way!
More than anything, it's the uncertainty of what will become of the people of our country as we know it...
Can't help feeling like this is all biblical in a way... like prophecied, anybody else think so?
    Happy... naaaw Be Afraid!

I think that having the people choose who is going to "run" the country by election and the whole democratic process is an excellant idea.
but the whole proceedure has gotten WAY out of hand. We are in a party system candidates feel the pressure to stick with their party in order to receive campaign funds.
Campaigning is a multi million dollar affair. I heard Jeb bush in Fla. spent over 30 million to get re-elected.
    This is not right.
It isn't right that corporations can donate to the candidates and then can get THEIR agendas pushed through when needed ie: big oil companies etc...
I am neither a Republican nor a Dem. I like to think I will vote for the person whom I think can best do the job.
But it is so much BS that I have my doubts that ANYONE can really do a good job with the current system.
    Can you say Campaign Reform?
