We all gave her various presents. Her friends gave her some, her brothers gave her CD's.
Then we gave her a card that said,
"You are 16, How does a new car sound?"
and on the inside the card read,
    "VROOM, VROOM!!"

She tried to put on a supportive face and told everyone "thanks" and smiled.
Then I gave her another bag and told her "Oh, this goes with that card"
Inside was her personalized plates and car keys.
She ,with tears welling up, said "You guys bought me a car?"
We told her to go find it and she found her car with a big red bow on it.
    A Subaru Legacy.
She was totally surprised and still very excited.
I'll post some pictures when I get a chance.

Well, I'm a little choked up Russell. Very sweet story.

I'm sitting here at the computer looking out the window at my 13 y.o. daughter holding my 23 month old son on her lap as they sit in Daddy's logging truck. She started the truck and he is pulling on the horn. My neighbors must love us. This happens about 5 times a day with one or the other of us taking him out. Gosh, I hope he doesn't grow up to be a logger. :-)

Your daughter's birthday and the look on her face is going to be a moment frozen in time for you to keep when you are old and sitting on the porch with Robin watching the sun set and wondering how time has flown by so fast. Savor and hold on to these moments.

I'm going out to get the kids out of the truck before the neighbors call the cops. But it is funny.

    thanks for sharing . .

Wish I could have seen that wonderful moment! We are car shopping for a replacement for one of our cars now and my soon to be 14 y.o. is taking a keen interest since she knows SHE will be driving it in a couple years. Looking forward to seeing those pix, Russell.

Good job Rusty I hope she respects the gift and you and your wife enough to be truly responsible with it. My 9 year old asked me this week if we could find an old jeep to fix up so she could drive it later. My head says no but she has my heart i already started looking!
