Request to start a letter writing campaign

  1. Ladies and gentlemen,

It is my humble request to you all to write a letter condemning this publication for running the following distasteful, disgraceful advertisement (which isn't really an ad but a really pathetic, cheap shot).

Let me give you a little background:

I come across an "ad" in a local "paper" which features a body under sheets with it's toes sticking out and a tag on the big toe which read "I got to go to college!"

And beneath it it said "Go Army Reserve.com"

I ripped that paper to shreds. I also sent 'em a very nice "letter" about their standards. I also told 'em I was not going to be reading any more of their 'papers' as I did not wish to read any more of their nonsese.

Since I had ripped my copy of the paper, I had some hunting to do. Found one in a local dive bar - bar owner is a nice guy, didn't know about it untill I showed him. Needless to say, he was pissed - I just need to scan it and upload it for y'all to see.

    It's beyond disgusting.

Scanners were working today so I scanned the ad. Here it is:

    Link

The paper is "The Buffalo Beast". Website : http://buffalobeast.com/
    Address :

    The Beast
    712 Main Street
    Buffalo, NY 14202

The issue # in concern is ---- Issue #84.

    Thanks.

Regardless of one's feelings about the yay or nay regarding this or any other war, or one's feelings about the military in general...

    this is truly disturbing.

On a personal level, ..the opportunity to go to college.. to be able to AFFORD to attend school through the GI Bill was a huge factor in my son's decision to join the Navy.

Were something to happen to him in the future, I would see this picture before me 24/7... it would haunt me for the remainder of my days.

I find this to be a hideous assault on the emotional well being of every parent who has a child in the Armed Forces.

You BET I'll write a letter ! :angryfire :angryfire :angryfire

this was so completely inappropriate that i was all poised to write a letter, then i clicked on the website to see who i was writing to, and didn't bother. I almost think that thye would relish all of the attention and letters written in response to this. Just viewing their front page and the "articles" and graphics told me volumes about this establishment. Write if you want, but i think they are hoping for a response like that and it will spur them into even more disgustingly innapropriate commentary.

    You are probably right SMK1

But it was so disgusting I couldn't help it!

    Me too.
I was about to e-mail them but since they already call themselves "evil" they probably would brag about being called cruel and inappropriate.

    The charge money for this!
I think you letting business owners know what they are selling may make some stop selling it.
Any attention would probably help their business.

I agree. I can't believe someone would design that and it would NOT occur to them how sick it is.

Where on EARTH did you find this?

If you can stomach it look in the 'letters' section. A soldier wrote stating that he was reporting the publication for using the Army's logo without permission. He seemed to believe they would be shut down over it. Don't really know if that will happen but I surely hope so.
