Goodness at least let the family bury their dead before you start in with the questions.

Very bad judgement on his part.

The ability to win an election does NOT infer or confer that you are intelligent, astute, or sensitive of others.

In fact, I would state that many times, the ability to win an election DOES infer a certain level of narcisstic qualities that might just lead to being an insensitive oaf. Normally, political handlers don't allow their big time products to open their traps like that. (Ross Perot being the obvious exception. If Ross had just shut up and listened to his handlers, he might have gone all the way.)

But, for lessor elected officials, those handlers aren't present and so a narcissistic representation of their ideology can takes the forefront.

And that's not an apology for this idiot. Far from it: it reveals the qualities about him that I'm sure were well heeled and hid up to this point. It's kind of like Mel Gibson's comments following his recent DWI arrest. In both cases, the individual in question might apologize, and he might seek and maybe get a measure of redemption, but the bottom line is that a key revelation about his character was revealed.

And that has to make you second guess voting (or in Mel's case, patronizing his movies) for him again as a result.
