Remember the REPUBLICAN CONTRACT WITH AMERICA

  1. Remember the REPUBLICAN CONTRACT WITH AMERICA

As Republican Members of the House of Representatives and as citizens seeking to join that body we propose not just to change its policies, but even more important, to restore the bonds of trust between the people and their elected representatives.
That is why, in this era of official evasion and posturing, we offer instead a detailed agenda for national renewal, a written commitment with no fine print....

    I do indeed, remember.

    Quote from www.house.gov/house/Contract/CONTRACT.html

... the end of government that is too big,

    too intrusive,

and too easy with the public's money.

It can be the beginning of a Congress that respects the values and shares the faith of the American family.

That contract won the House in 1994.

I'll stand by actually promoting an agenda any day over just taking glee in the sadistic sexual fantasies of a perverted creep and politically posturing about how THAT can win the House.

My problem is this: it doesn't seem that Democrats really oppose the behavior as much as they think it can lead to tumbling the leadership. So, perverted sexual desire is just a political calculation. Where, exactly, IS the indignation against the individual in this act? No, all the media and politicians seem to care about is the political advantage that can be pressed.

You're free to evaluate the success of that Contract, 12 yrs later, but it not only elected a new majority, it held them to the fire for a number of years.

I'll take that over depending upon the sexual picadillos of creeps to win office any day. In FACT, Republicans DID just that in 1992. And, he was elected President as a result of the miscalculation. So, don't be all that surprise when playing political games over sexual deviancy doesn't pan out exactly as planned. It's been tried before.

For every Gary Hart there is a Mark Foley. They lose and deserve to lose. Losers.

But, for every attempt to turn such into political hay, there's the master of them all, PRESIDENT Clinton. In fact, wasn't it DEMOCRATS arguing not too long ago that sex has no place in the public agenda, whether it was alleged to be 'rape', or not?

It just goes to show that sex has nothing to do with morality inside the beltway, as long as their is a political case to be made. Being indignant, it seems, is just another political posture. And the parties exchange their exact roles and charges to meet the season.

    Sad.

IF the Democrats had a Contract today, they'd sweep the House. They might eek it out anyway, but only by selling their souls.

No, I'll take a Contract any day over what passes for political advantage on the backs of creeps.

I would like to see a contract that sweeps them ALL OUT and starts over. But that is as likely to happen as world peace would.

About eight years ago I attended a convention in San Diego. At that time David Brin was a Libertarian.
