My etch-a-sketch was different. If you turned both knobs at the same time you could make a curved line. That one you can't.

Glad you said that. Was wondering what I was doing wrong that I could only draw straight lines. But I pulled some wires out of the back of the computer when I picked it up and shook it.

My earliest memory of Etch-A-Sketch was when, as a four-year-old, I stepped on one with bare feet and got shards of glass in my left foot. (They had glass in them back in the 60's.) My mother grabbed me and sat me on the kitchen table while she frantically called the hospital. She was on the phone so long, I started picking the glass out of my foot and dropping it on the floor-- I got all of it out, and my foot bled so much it cleaned itself out.

When I got older, I bought myself another one and learned how to write my name by turning both dials... whenever I'm in a toy store I show off by doing that-- it freaks people out!

    :chuckle That is cute!

I was fascinated by figuring out how it worked. My favorite thing was to carefully clear off the screen so I could see the innards!

    Yup, I remember.

I had an Etch a Sketch, but seems like the only thing I can remember drawing with it was boxy looking houses (straight lines).

We have a v.p. who refused to have a computer -- we figure this is as close as we're going to get him to one!!!:chuckle

some of my best artistic work was created on the little red and silver machine - but alas, with no cut and paste or print screen, everyone will just have to believe me that I'm an "artist".

I loved Etch a sketch. Only problem was that as a kid, I didn't have such great manual dexterity. i couldn't draw a curve. The pen with an etch a sketch on top is fun.
