Reconnected .... for now!

  1. greetings friend's!

i've been offline for a week!
    major internet problems.
"they've" got me reconnected now. don't know how long for.
however, while "they've" got me reconnected to the net, our main landline phone is now not operational! the main bedroom phone works, the line in here in the office works, (obviously!), but the main line in the kitchen doesn't! been trying to contact both the isp and our phone carrier. all i get is a recorded message telling me how busy they are!!!! :angryfire
i tell ya, i'm 'bout ready to throw it all in! revert back to snailmail and no internet at all! it's just too exasperating!

hope everyone is well. i've missed allnurses! i'll probably need a week on here fulltime and non-stop in order to catch up on all the happenings! :uhoh21: and, there's no way i can do that!

    update:

my sister is recovering beautifully from her surgery. the tumour was benign!!!! praise the lord! she sounds chipper on the phone and who wouldn't?! thanks to those for kind words and prayers.

the results of the bone scan i had on monday show i have osteoarthritis in the lumbar spine. the pain in the right illiac crest is referred pain from that, apparently. treating it with pain meds and glucosamine at this stage. ahh, the joys of growing older! it's all that lifting i did as a younger nurse! that's it! we'll blame it on that shall we? lol

dh has his knee arthroscopy next tuesday.

ds arrives home on the 18th for 10 days leave.

i turn 57 on the 22nd and we're booked for dinner at our favourite thai restaurant. woohoo!

our 32nd wedding anniversay is on the 20th. amazing! lol

    december is a busy month!

if i disappear again, you'll know i'm having more isp problems!
    but let's hope not!
    but, if'in i do ...........
i want to wish everyone a
    merry christmas!
i hope you enjoy the peace and joy of this special time of year with your loved ones.

    cheers from down under!

    Hi there, bethin!
He'll be home for 10 days.
We're really SO looking forward to having him home!
The beautiful new queen size bed will be delivered and installed in his room before he arrives. He'll feel like he's sleeping on a cloud! After the bedding he's been sleeping on, anything will feel like pure bliss! lol
We're going to spoil him and just enjoy him being home.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. :icon_hug: Y'all such great mates here on allnurses!

You'll never believe it... then again, you just might! lol

It might well be that the interent problems were MY fault!!! :smackingf:imbar

After ALL the kerfuffle, ALL the wheeling and dealing with the ISP etc etc, today I discovered the cable from the modem into the wall socket was UNPLUGGED!!!!! :selfbonk:

OMG! Dontcha reckon I feel like a total DILL???!!!!! :yeahthat:

Surmising of course, that that IS what's been the problem all along! It would appear that perhaps the cable was somehow yanked out of the socket, and hence the failure. I had checked the connection though, I'm sure! It was only found by fluke today while discussing with an electrician, who I was going to hire to come here and check all the wiring etc in the house, which is what my ISP recommended. The electrician advised me to plug the phone into this computer outlet and see if the phone worked. If it did, then that would prove the line etc was ok. It was when I went to do this that I discovered the cable unplugged from the socket!!!

I'm just hoping that it was the problem and from now on I'll have NO problems!!

Anyway, I wont tell my ISP if YOU don't!

    uhm...
    well...
    oops...
no i won't tell them if you don't. but only because i don't know who they are *evil grin*

so glad for your sister. what a lovely christmas present for her.

and as for your arthritis, it probably is due to all that lifting. remember when they used to tell us that all nurses should expect to get a 'bad back'; it was part of the job? we are so lucky now with all the lifting devices we use. when i remember all those things we used to do. but that knowledge doesn't help with the pain...

re: your birthday and your anniversary.

are you celebrating them both together? then again, will you be having a separate christmas do?

well, now that you have hopefully no communication problems, i hope you have a wonderful december!!!
