Rant about men!!!

  1. I need to let off a little steam!! My husband is in a grand funk over me being sick. I have been sick since Monday afternoon, missed two days of work etc...My husband has being moping around here like a 3 y/o because I have been pretty much useless this week. He was ticked today because I didn't feel like taking the kid to piano practice. Let's see, I called in sick to work today so I probably shouldn't be running around town doing errands. My temp has been bouncing around 99.3 to 100.7. The only place I have been since Monday afternoon is the hospital ER yesterday. Otherwise I have been two places. The living room couch and the john. I know I have done jack squat the past 4 days, but it isn't like I have been running around having a good time. Unless you consider spending the night and the next day on the toilet with the trash can in front of you a good time. Or feeling so rotten that you would have to rally just in order to die... or being concerned that every time your belly rumbles you will have to make a mad dash for the john. I am not fond of going to work, but I would have much rather been at work this week than heaving my guts out. But no, I am being a lazy bum and sitting on the couch watching TV 24/7. I am so sick of TV I could scream....

Why is when the men get sick the whole world is suppose to revolve around them, but heaven forbid if us women get sick.... We had a good lengthy "discussion" about it today and now he is playing the sulking, mistreated, husband....

Okay, now I feel better about blowing off steam....

(Not to meant to offend any of the WONDERFUL men we have here on the boards.. )

hope you feel better soon, dee!

sadly enuf, you described me..not my husband. he is the loving, caring, considerate one when i'm sick. when he's sick, i feel like, "damn, I do this ALL day at work and then have to come home and play nurse..ain't gonna do it!". I usually feel guilty later, but this is how I always feel when he's sick..which, thank God, is rare.

Dee! I am sorry to hear you are sick and that you are not getting much TLC from your husband......funny when they are sick, it's a National Crisis...when WE are it's "where's my clean underwear? Where's dinner.....Honey I can't find my keys....."......oh well. Feel better soon!

My husband is usually a very considerate, loving husband. Just has a hard time accepting the fact that some people actually stay home from work when they are sick. He is a farmer and was raised by wonderful parents. But he and his parents have a farmer's way of thinking when it comes to getting sick. And that is unless you are decapitated, dead, or have a traumatic amputation of a limb you are not ill. Unless it is for one of these scenarios, you go to work. Period. Even though I was raised in a home that you should report for work under most circumstances (mild headache, tired, slight cold) there are a few exceptions to the rule. Exception number one: If you can't get off the john long enough to pull up your pants and wash your hands, you probably should not go to work. (Especially in a healthcare setting! ). I have no doubt in my mind that if I would have reported for work on Monday, my boss would have kicked me right back out the door....and with good reason. Everytime I get sick my husband has a tough time accepting the fact that I can call in and not feel guility...and that I think it is okay to lay around on the couch and not do a darn thing....oh well, he will have to just deal with it.

I don't mind taking care of my husband when he is sick. Maybe because he doesn't complain even when he is sick. Trying to convince that man to go to the doctor is like pulling hen's teeth....I have to literally drag him into the doctors office before..once he had pneumonia (running temp of 103.6 or higher for three straight days!!) and almost required hospitalization...go figure.

Probably time for me to get off the soapbox.....

I am feeling a lot better this evening. Still not 100%, but lots better than I was....thanks

In reference to your illness, we got a letter from the water and sewer co., stating they'd had just about enough out of you, thank you very much . . .

I doubt if I will hear from the water company and the sewage people. I have a well and a septic tank.....(which has been put to good use this past week I might add.....)

    LMMFAO!

It sucks being sick. Do they think we enjoy it? Do they think we like the way the inside of the toilet bowl looks? (and if I do, it's only because I cleaned it).

I hope you feel better soon! Lay in bed with some good books. And ignore him when he speaks. You can always say that your ears were plugged.

I hate looking at my toilet bowls, or should I say the area around it? I don't know what is so hard about hitting that thing!! The 4 guys here in this house must have the worse aim in the world....For crying out loud, I think I will buy some of those little target things you can buy for boys when you are potty-training them and put them in the toilet. Maybe it would improve their aim.....doubt it though...

I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST MY HOUSE!

I swear I get so sick of using Lysol wipes around the toilet! I told my hubby when (if) we remodel the bathroom, I want a toilet bowl with an extra large diameter!

Just thinking about putting my face in there makes me sick!

    Heather,

You only have 2 to deal with...ought to try 4 of them. Keeping that toilet bowl clean with them here is like trying to shovel snow while it is still snowing.....I can send them up your way for a few days...just let me know....

You're a wife and mother. You're not allowed to be sick. It was in your marriage vows. It came right after, you husband gets to be a big baby, whine, lounge around, and you have to treat him like your his mother when he is sick. Remember!!! Silly thing.

Seriously, I hope you are well soon.

I am guilty as sin. I do all the horrible things men do like missing the toilet......hey you try aiming one of these things when 2 streams come out instead of one. I am not kind and considerate to my wife when she is sick. I act just like your hubby. I am a farmer too (or was). Once she cut her finger on the food processor and I told her to lay down, you look like you are going to pass out. I've never been allowed to forget it either. We men are such beasts I'm surprised you Ladies even tolerate us. I apologize for all mankind for being the way we are, and I hope you are well enough soon to take proper care of your husband and kids.....sorry couldn't resist.
