Raindrops on roses, whiskers on kittens....

  1. ....the song from "Sound of Music".

    What are your favorite things?

Mine? Sitting in my car on a dark stormy nite with a great view of the storm----watching the lightening and rainstorm. Very relaxing hearing the rain hitting the top of my car. Have fallen asleep several times only to be wakened by the police and told.....you can't sleep here. :imbar

Mine is being alone during the day with a rain storm, the heating is on and I am reading good book-feeling very cosy and letting the world go by.

Can't share this with you since I suffer from Astrophobia :chuckle

Mine? Relaxing on a lawn chair watching the shedding trees, enjoying a cup of warm ginger ale as the calm, scented-breeze rolls the leaves around the yard. This is Autumn of course, only to wake up from my daydream and realize I have to rake all those darn leaves

Well, I don't have astraphobia, but I'm not real fond of watching the storms any more because our area is #1 in the country for lightning strikes.

But I do love relaxing in the pool when the water's very warm.
I love being with my family and just talking and goofing off.
I still get a thrill out of a successful Code or getting a hard stick on the first try.
I love cooking something special for the whole family.
I love feeling like the Lord is sitting right next to me.

    * Coming home after a piss tiring day, irritated and snappy-angry... only to see a body of bounding body of fur with a thumping tail all excited to see you like it's never ever seen you before and that you are it's best and only friend in the world

    Yes, I love dogs

And yes, I miss my dog

    * Sharing a quiet drink and conversation with close and intimate friends.

    * Opening the throttle on my motorcycle and feel that wind whip my face and hair

    * Flying. Anything. Anywhere. Anytime. The experience alone when you feel the machine lift of the ground is exhillerating....

    * Teaching a young child how to crawl, walk, brush their teeth etc. for the first time. And an even better feeling is see their happy excited and proud faces when they do it on their own...

    * Having a baby/infant curl up in your arms as you soothe it to sleep.

    * The relationship I share with my old company and Regiment. Few things can compare. Fewer things are as complex to explain.

    * Helping make the difference between health and sickness. Life and death. Helping others help themselves leads more productive, enriching and rewarding lives. Every single day of your life.

    * Violent weather too. Like thunderstorms and howling monsoons.

    * I also enjoy 'fireworks' -- both the harmless party kind and the "other" kind

    * Music! Ahhh, music! late 60s, 70s music. Jazz and blues. Folk. Sometimes I think I was born in the wrong generation :chuckle

    * Eating a good steak. Or the veggie stuff my Mother makes. Or the home-made sweets my gramma makes.
Yes.. these are a few of my favourite things

When god-daughter says she wants to "snuggle bunny" on couch and watch TV. Sadly, she's outgrowing this.
Falling asleep next to DH, and feeling him kiss my brow right before I am completely asleep.
Watching DH tuck his kids in their beds at night.
Drinking coffee for hours after a meal talking to a friend I haven't seen in awhile.
A new book by a favorite author.

A few of my favorite things are:

Getting "cow" kisses from my ds who is 3 1/2

Spending time with my dd on Mommy/dtr days-we shop, go eat, and mostly talk about nothing at all.

Hearing both of my children laughing uncontrollably when dh struts around the house like a rooster.

Watching old movies esp Gone with the Wind on a winters day.

Listening to Disco music alone in the car where I can crank it up and sing at the top of my lungs.

Learning history from the older folks that lived it.

Carmona's Mexican food in Terrell, TX.

Getting someone to smile back at me.

    And napping during the day!!

    Favorite things....

The fall, anything and everything about it. Decorating the front of the house with pumpkins, hay and mums, the smell in the air, pulling out my sweatshirts and jeans, sitting out in front of my house waiting for all the little trick or treaters to come by....

Deep meaningful conversations with my husband....from religion, to politics, to life and the meaning of it all...... :blushkiss

Nursing my baby in bed in the dead of winter, when we're all warm and snuggled close, the love pats she gives me and the "milk drunk smiles" she gives....nothing beats the love of your children.....

The Blue Ridge mountains....any time of year.....

    Cooking for my family.....

    My weekends off.....

Knoebels in the heart of coal mining country.....

Family dinners with my parents and sisters.....

I'm sure I could think of more, but they're at the top!

Christmas mornings at my mom's - my brothers and sisters and their families all gather there. It's helpful if there's snow on the ground. Just the sounds and smells, visiting with my sibs, and watching the kids.

Having the whole house to myself for several hours - heaven!

Twistercat - doesn't matter what I'm doing, or where I am; when he wants love and attention, I melt. And when he doesn't want to be bothered, I just look at him. Either way, I win. It's all good.

Alone time with my partner, and dinner out once a week. We can talk about everything or nothing.

    Entertaining friends.

    Toronto and Key West.
