Got my last kid married off, and ran away !!!! they are a 5 hour drive away, just right...:roll :chuckle Love them all dearly, but they were getting awfully bossy........" Mom, I drove by your place on way to work this am and you weren`t home. Where were you?" And that was a 5 mile detour.......... Have 2 furry kids and they don`t care where or what I do........Enjoy my quiet home, but also enjoy a visit with my roudy bunch. When they were small, I would hire a babysitter, and go up the mountain,or to a nearby lake for "quiet" time, all by myself, and commune with nature.

I lock the door and get in the bath tub......losts of hot water, creamy bubbles, and sometimes a candle or two. At least once a week I do this for myself. I feel so relaxed and happy when I get out........
When I am really stressed I call my best friend. Cordless phone goes to my bedroom and we chat for a few hours. It is like a miny vacation for me because afterwards I always feel like I have been to a spa or something. She is my shrink via AT&T.....at 6cents a min.....who can beat that???

Hey, I knew there was a valid reason why I live alone! Thanks for the reminder. I am, and have always been a loner. I really really need my me time. One reason that I am not fond of family vacations and gatherings -- I get really agitated when I have too many people in my face.

I usually take a walk or find some little corner to be alone with my thoughts. This especially applies to my extended family. What a bunch of noisy people!

Julie.....MAKE time for yourself! Just like you schedule time to work and time to take the kids to the dentist etc....make time to take care of Julie. Even if it is just 1 hour....

I used to feel guilty whenever I did anything for myself and never learned to just enjoy.
It doesn't work. Plan some time for you and then stick to it, just like you would if you had an appointment with the boss.
It will be worth it! Then you will be able to take care of others too!

Thank you for this thread. I am just about to leave to drop my youngest at his first day of preschool. I must admit that I am WAY too excited to have all the children in school and my hubby at work. All at the same time. I have been feeling a little guilty about having some "me" time. These posts have made me feel much better about a few hours to myself.

Quiet time what's that??? The only time I get partial quiet time is when I am studying at home,or on my way to and from school!

Oh how I treasure the rides to/from work & school...they're not quiet since I can crank up the music and usually sing loudly, but a few minutes to enjoy...at night when it's quiet it's hard to go to sleep because I want to stay up and enjoy the silence! Or taking a nice hot shower without someone knocking on the door!

I'll miss summer for only one reason: I LOVE to relax in the sun with my headphones on, totally zoned out

I used to have opportunities for quiet time while driving to work. I could think, listen to music, & sing. Now, with my daughter riding in with me so she can go to school, I have 2 minutes to myself at most. A new challenge!

I've been getting up early to get to the Y when it opens at 0500. It's not open that early on the weekends, so I think that I will start waking up that early just for the quiet time! I've been wanting to write, so this would be a good time for it.

I get to take long bubble baths & all, but it's nice to have the whole house quiet...and rather rare, even with only 3 of us in the house.

Quiet time?? What is that?? I guess the only quiet time is when I'm asleep and that's not too quiet as my hubby farts too loud when he rolls over.
