What advice would you give to new graduate RNs who are being courted by recruiters? What are the most useful questions that the new grads can ask about the facilities they're being recruited to?

"How much orientation will I have?" is the most important question a new grad could ask, I think. Will you have as assigned preceptors (i.e. without his/her own assignment), will there be classroom or other didactic teaching in addition to the clinical orientation, have they ever pulled anyone off orientation early because they were short-staffed?
What is the average nurse-pt ratio? What is the maximum nurse-pt ratio? What kind of support can I expect from ancillary staff (CNAs or PCTs, Lab, IV therapy, respiratory therapy, housekeeping, unit secretary, pharmacy, etc.)? On all shifts, or are these cut back on eves or nights?
Will I ever have to float? Will I ever be floated to an area where I haven't been cross-trained? What is your policy in regards to mandatory overtime?
